Samsung previews new 55″ Series 8 LED TV

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: October 15, 2009

A new 55" Samsung Series 8 LED TV is coming out and they'll still be as thin as 1.2 inches. We've had the Series 7 before and this new one adds new features that could well replace a separate media player. Well, that's if you consider the fact that you can now hook up an external HDD via USB to the LED TV and play movies from there or use the internal storage that's been bumped up to 2GB. Despite Samsung's claim that their LED TVs are internet-ready, I still think it's a little crippled. There's ethernet connection and WiFi…

Relevance: 99%      Posted on: January 3, 2013

Samsung has announced a new ultrabook and an ultraportable gaming laptop in its line-up, the Series 7 Ultra and the refreshed Series 7 Chronos. The Series 7 Ultra is a touchscreen ultrabook powered by an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and a discrete GPU (1GB AMD HD8570M). Optional storage is 128GB or 256GB SSD, up to 16GB of RAM, a full HD 1080p display in a 13.3-inch screen. The Series 7 Chronos is more of a gaming laptop. It's powered by an Intel Core i7 3635QM CPU and AMD Radeon HD 8870M GPU with up to 16GB of RAM…

Samsung launches 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook

Relevance: 91%      Posted on: June 19, 2012

Last night, Samsung Philippines launched their 2nd-generation ultrabooks with the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors. They also showcased a 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook and a 13-inch super-affordable Series 5 ultrabook (under Php30k). Incidentally, we've actually seen these ultrabooks a couple of weeks ago in the floors of the Computex. The 15-inch Series 9 ultrabook packs an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. The 15-inch display only has a resolution of 1600x900 pixels though. It's got a matte finish, aluminum body that's only 14.9mm thin and weighs just 1.65kg (3.63lbs). Not bad for…

55″ Samsung B8000 Series 8 LED TV

Relevance: 90%      Posted on: December 6, 2009

Samsung Philippines previewed their newest 55-inch LED TV last October, the inch-thick Samsung B8000 Series 8. They sent me one to test out for a week and I'm curious how that internet connectivity feature works. I've tried and review the Series 7 LED TV here before and the 40-incher was great. This Series 8 I am using right now is 55" and way bigger (it dwarfs my 42" and 32" LCD TV at home). (Shown beside the Samsung B8000 is a 42" LCD TV.) Asrock's local distributor sent me an HTPC last week and I have yet to unbox it.…

Samsung Series 7 laptop goes slim and sexy

Relevance: 89%      Posted on: August 31, 2011

If you didn't like the construction of the Samsung Series 9 laptop, I'm sure you'll probably drool over the recently announced Samsung Series 7, with its sleek aluminum body. Price starts at $999 (probably be Php49,999 when it hits the Philippines), the Series 7 laptop comes with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. That chrome finish on the lid and brushed-metal finish on the palm rests, all made with aluminum, gives the Series 7 laptop a really cool and sexy look. Too bad they are only available in 14-inch and 15.6-inch form factor (which is a bit too big…

Samsung 9 Series Notebook is Super Thin!

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: January 8, 2011

Weighing in at 2.89lbs, the Samsung 9 Series barely bested the Macbook Air 13.3 at 2.9lbs. And the specs are pretty impressive too. Local reps of Samsung have actually told us about this upcoming unit back in December, claiming it will be thinner the the Mac Air so I'm not that very surprised to see this announcement. Samsung 9 Series 13.3" display at 1366×768 Intel Core i5 Processor 2537M @ 1.40 GHz (Turbo Boost up to 2.3 GHz) Intel HD GT2 Integrated Graphics 4GB DDR3 RAM 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD) Windows 7 Home Premium/Professional (64 bit) WiFi 802.11b/g/n WiMax…

Samsung Series 9 comes in 11.6″ too!

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: March 27, 2011

When Samsung launched their ultra-thin Series 9 laptop in the Philippines last week, they only showed the regular 13.3" variant. I thought it's such a waste they didn't include a 11.6" variant that would go head-to-head with the 11-inch Macbook Air. Turns out they did a 11-incher too (as reported here) with better specs than the Mac Air equivalent. The specs is similar to the 13.3" Series 9, though with lower SSD capacity: Samsung 9 Series 11.6 11.6″ display at 1366×768 Intel Core i5 Processor 2537M @ 1.40 GHz (Turbo Boost up to 2.3 GHz) Intel HD GT2 Integrated Graphics…

Computex: Samsung Series 5 Ultra Convertible

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: June 6, 2012

Samsung new entry into the ultrabook category is the Series 5 Ultra Convertible -- a superthin notebook with touchscreen panel and lid that flips back up to 360 degrees. This isn't the first of ultrabooks that can make a 360-backflip since we've already seen this in the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga back in January during CES 2012. I'm not quite sure what the complete specs of this convertible ultrabook but I reckon it will be similar to the configuration of the original Samsung Series 5 ultrabook that was released in the Philippines a couple of months ago. Samsung points out 5…

Samsung Series 8 F8000 Smart TV

Relevance: 84%      Posted on: March 2, 2013

Samsung newest line-up in their Series 8 LED TVs is this F8000 -- a thinner and more bedroom-friendly model than the 85-inch UHD TV they announced this week. The Series 8 F8000 features a very thin bezel that gives an impression the entire display is floating freely (that bezel is as thin as the side of the iPhone 5). The F8000 comes in 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch variants but unlike the UHD TV that has a 4k resolution, these unit are just regular full HD 1080p resolution. Here's a quick clip we shot of how the TV looks from a…

Samsung Series 8 HDTV and Mornings @ ANC

Relevance: 82%      Posted on: November 28, 2008

Yesterday, Samsung Philippines introduced their new line of HDTVs just in time for the Christmas shopping season -- the Series 7 and Series 8 LCD TV with 46" and 52" models. Despite the premium price tag of Php250,000 for the 52" model, Samsung Series 8 HDTV makes it up with a ton of features: Full HD @ 1080p (1920×1080 pixel resolution) 70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) function 120Mhz frame rate Not the slimmest in the market but at 1.8", that's thinner than the other previous models. I've seen their tech guys hooking it up with a…
