Sneak Peek: YugaTech Android Tablet

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: April 1, 2010

So TechCrunch had the JooJoo and now YugaTech has an Android Tablet. I'd like to share a sneak peek at the upcoming YugaTech DroPad we had designed with our Taiwanese partner, FoxConn. It's not yet finished and what I have here is just a prototype of a 7-inch Android-powered tablet. I wanted to get some feedback from YugaTech readers and maybe share some photos before we finalize this device. Can't really share the complete specs but what I can say is that the device will have support for 3G/HSDPA, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth, an 8GB internal storage, SD card slot…

Relevance: 96%      Posted on: August 28, 2010

A tipper sent this in this afternoon telling us he's spotted a Chinese Android Tablet in one of the local malls (this is probably the iPed). The tablet runs on an older version of Android (probably v1.5) and looks like the screen dimension is around 7 to 9 inches across. Uses a stylus (resistive screen) and no multitouch support but has a camera and HDMI (not sure, probably micro-USB) port. The Android tablet sells for Php6,000. {Hat tip to Rafael Oca.}

MyPhone to launch MyTablet Android tablet?

Relevance: 91%      Posted on: March 17, 2011

Just had a talk with one of the industry people today and they mentioned that Solid Group, Inc. (SGI), the local MyPhone manufacturer, will be launching their own branded Android tablet in the Philippines. No details are available yet but I'm looking into verifying this story and getting more details and pricing about their tablet. My guess is that it will come from one of those OEMs in China. The tablet is said to be named MyTablet. SGI earned a reportedly Php2 billion in unit sales for the fiscal year 2010 -- that's a 9-fold sales increase from their performance…

nVidia showed off a prototype of an upcoming Android Tablet designed by Foxconn and running their dual-core Tegra 250 chipset. The design looks a little smaller than the Apple iPad at 8.9" but seemed more portable and handy {via Gizmodo}. The prototype runs a newer ARM Cortex-A9 chip @ 1.0GHz with the video graphics running an nVidia Tegra, expect this to be geared more towards heavy gaming. No additional details were revealed but they said its got 1GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, USB ports and an unknown version of Android OS.

Coming out from Singapore is the mobile device manufacturer Fusion Garage (this is actually the same company TechCrunch partnered for the tablet project back in 2009). This time though, they've come up with their very own Grid 10 tablet which was announced yesterday. What's interesting is that Fusion Garage did not just jump into the Android bandwagon but actually created a modified version of Android on their own called Grid OS -- an effort worth noting. Grid 10 tablet specs: 10.1" TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen @ 1366x768 pixels NVidia Tegra 2 processor @ 1.2GHz dual-core 512MB RAM 16GB internal storage…
