PLDT upgrades myDSL Plan 3000 to 5Mbps

Good news to all PLDT myDSL subscribers on Plan 3000 — bandwidth upgrades have been rolling to all subs as early as first week of this month. The plan was bumped up from 3Mbps to 5Mbps.

BayanTel offers 3Mbps at Php899, 15GB cap

So there you go — another ISP offering capped plans on a faster pipe. I’m sure a lot of you have seen those big billboard ads while plying the roads of Metro Manila. BayanTel has a special package of 3Mbps BayanDSL for only Php899 a month.

Sky Broadband offers 112Mbps for Php19,999

Heard about this yesterday but wasn’t able to verify it until today when I visited their booth and asked for a demo. Yes, you read it right — Sky Broadband is offering up to 112Mbps residential cable internet.

Why is 4G/WiMax in the Philippines slow?

While WiMax has been introduced in the country for some time now, people are still complaining it’s not really fast. So, yes, 1MBps isn’t really fast but can we really afford 10Mbps right now?

Mobile 3G is now cheaper than DSL!

Just realized that since all the telecom players (Sun, Smart and Globe) are now offering unlimited 3G internet and subsequently lowering the prices down, 3G is officially cheaper than DSL.

For the last couple of weeks, my PLDT DSL connection at home has crawled to a turtle’s pace. I don’t often get this type of problems in the last 4.5 years but this time, it took longer than one would expect.

Sky Broadband now up to 12 Mbps

Sky Broadband seems to be tipping the scale for broadband speeds with offerings of up to 6Mbps and 12 Mbps packages for residential accounts. Just got a pamphlet from their roving people asking residents to switch.
