Each year, we review hundreds of gadgets and one of the indicators that it is a hot item is the number of people who read our reviews (on top of the shares, FB likes and retweets). In 2012, smartphones continue to dominate the line-up. Here are our top 25 gadgets that we reviewed on YugaTech.
One of the first LTE smartphones to arrive and be available to subscribers is the Sony Xperia V LTE. It was launched in the Philippines around 2nd week of December and offered by Smart under UnliData Plan 2000.
Last week, during Sony Philippines’ Christmas Party for the media, the company also showcased a number of their new devices that will soon be launched in the country. Among them is the Sony Xperia TX.
Recent statistics suggest that the jaw-dropping growth of smartphone sales in the Philippines is largely due to steep competition and cheaper phones from numerous companies, thus, resulting in device manufacturers to offer entry-level smartphones that can offer so much more minus a higher price tag.

Over lunch this afternoon, I was able to get hold of an upcoming Android smartphone from Huawei. I also learned that the Huawei Honor U8860 will finally be released in the Philippines sometime next week with an expected retail price of under Php15k.

The Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc S did not deviate much from the original Arc except for the bump in processor speed (and the additional colored variant) so it’s not really a huge improvement, in my opinion. When Sony-Ericsson announced the Xperia Arc, I was a little confused why they did not really improved on the specs of their flagship device considering that everyone else has gone dual-core.
Sony Philippines is holding a 3-day event called the Sony Summer Hotspots from March 11 – 13, 2011 at the SM Megatrade Hall 1. They will also be accepting pre-orders for the upcoming Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc on these said dates (update: suggested retail price is Php32,750).
So the wait is over — Sony Ericsson Philippines today launched two entry-level Android smartphones during the Sony Ericsson Expo in Megamall — the Xperia X10 Mini and the Mini Pro.
Got a tip from the local PR of Sony-Ericsson Philippines that the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro will be coming out in stores this July (though no exact dates yet).
The Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10 is technically the very first SnapDragon+Android powered smartphone to ever hit the Philippines (the HTC Magic is the first Android and the HTC HD2 is the first SnapDragon offered in the country).
