Is Sun Cellular now riding on SmartR17;s network?

Relevance: 90%      Posted on: March 11, 2012

I know this would not be a huge surprise since Sun Cellular is already a member of the PLDT Group but just saw a couple of days ago that Sun Cellular has upgraded its network's signal strength. It might have seem routinary but the instructions were a bit telling -- select "Smart" in the network settings. The instructions were stated like so (primarily in Tagalog). Ngayon, mula Ilocos Norte hanggang Marinduque, Isabela hanggang Mindoro, Nueva Vizcaya hanggang Albay, pwedeng-pwede mo na gamitin ang Sun para ma-contact 24/7 ang iyong pamilya, kamag-anak at barkada. Sa Sun, kumpleto na ang tawagan sa…

Here are the mechanics: Cool new gadgets will be given away in an auction -- iPods, Nokia cellphones, digital cameras and Sony PSP -- however, this auction will award the person who makes the lowest unique bid for that item. An Apple iPod 60GB has a starting bid of Php250 only. If there are at least two people bidding the same amount for the gadget, they're disqualified.…

Well, if you can't beat them -- sell them! :D [tags]sun cellular, telco, call card, prepaid cards, digitel[/tags]

Sun Cellular gets domestic roaming with Smart

Relevance: 56%      Posted on: March 13, 2012

We earlier reported that Sun Cellular was riding on Smart's network to expand its coverage in certain areas and we've also asked readers to confirm this. It looks like Sun has already verified this by connecting to Smart via domestic roaming. We're all familiar with international roaming and have the impression that roaming between networks is very expensive. But in this case, I believe Sun is getting a free ride on Smart's vast network (considering they both belong under the PLDT Group). TechLokal confirms this move by Sun (via Sun Cellular VP for CRM Reuben Pangan): We have expanded our…
