HP outs Spectre XT TouchSmart, Envy TouchSmart

HP announced two new sets of ultrabooks during IFA last week. The HP Spectre XT TouchSmart and the Envy TouchSmart Ultrabook 4. Both have large touchscreen displays to help cater to Windows 8. The Spectre XT has 15.6-inch multitouch Radiance Full HD (1920x1080) IPS display with edge-to-edge glass across it. It is HP's first notebook to use the Thunderbolt technology for fast data transfers to external devices. Full set of ports are available which includes a Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and HDMI. Back in October we’ve mentioned that HP has made the platform behind their short-lived tablet available for talented and passionate developers. In line with this, they’ve ported the said OS to various products, with the latest being the Google Nexus 7. HP releases Open webOS 1.0

HP webOS, the operating system used by devices such as the HP TouchPad, is now available to the community, now known as the Open webOS 1.0. As the name suggest, the Open webOS 1.0 is an open source operating system meaning developers can use or modify the OS and port it to existing devices such as smartphones, tablets, even PCs.
