Finally, Western Digital has their own 7mm thin hard disk drives that sits perfectly well with the current crop of ultrabooks. It's not as fast as the SSDs but you get the benefits of really large and inexpensive storage -- like 500GB. Prior to WD, Hitachi and Seagate already has super-slim HDD for ultrabooks available in the local market. Hitachi is the one being used in the Acer Aspire S3. However, both Hitachi and Seagate were only offering up to 320GB. The Lenovo IdeaPad U300e also used a HDD instead of the SSD which is used in the U300s. Western

Fraud issue with Western Union for AdSense Publishers

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: March 3, 2013

Most AdSense Publishers in the Philippines would use Western Union to pick up their earnings because it's the fastest and most convenient method. However, based on recent experience, it's also the most un-secure and prone to fraud. Just the other day, someone claimed my AdSense earnings via Western Union and got thru. This isn't the first time this kind of MO happened and it isn't an isolated case either. A number of local publishers (and bloggers) has had their Adsense revenues wiped out thru Western Union in the past. In my case, I was out of the country (flying in…

I have an old external generic drive case which I got at a cheap price of around Php560. Its now handling a 160GB Seagate HDD which I use to transfer media files from one workstation to another or to my laptop (the 54Mbps LAN just wouldn't cut it). So, when I saw this Western Digital 500GB My Book at a sale price back in Funan IT Mall, I grabbed one right away. I was un-boxing it last night while taking pictures... The thing looks like a black XBox 360. Been transferring files from the old hard drive to this one…

Western Union for Philippine AdSense Publishers

Mars Woo left a comment on my earlier post about Malaysians getting their Adsense payouts via Western Union: Hey, I’m a Philippine publisher and I also received an invitation from Google to try Western Union this morning. Hmmmm. I think publishers should be wary of this because Western Union has a payout limit. I’m having second thoughts also because Western Union is very strict. You have to produce two valid IDs, fill up information sheets yadah yadah. But one good thing to consider is that those who are invited to try the Western Union payout will not be charged for…

What is your mobile phone history?

Most of us have owned a number of handsets in the past but can you still remember all of them? I tried recalling my mobile phone history, starting from the turn of the century when Nokia was the king, all the way to the present glory of Android and iOS smartphones. Here's what I came up with: The list below are the mobile phones I owned, the year I owned them, and how they ended up after owning them. Some were passed down to me, bought for me and acquired by my own means. Nokia 3310 (2000) - dad smashed…

Malaysian AdSense Publishers are being offered payment options thru Western Union as reported in Ades blog here. Before this, payment options for publishers are limited to regular registered* mail which takes around 20 days, DHL** which is about 5 to 7 days but costs $24 or electronic fund transfers***. Adding Western Union money transfer might be a good alternative especially for countries where bank wire transfers are not supported could be a better idea. Besides, they have over 250,000 Western Union Agent locations in over 200 countries and territories. However, we'll have to look into the fees with this option:…
