The Google Nexus One has arrived

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: January 27, 2010

So the package arrived yesterday and I was able to unbox the Nexus One this afternoon. I knew that by getting that custom laser engraving, It'd be delayed by a week but I think it's worth it. First, and this is pretty obvious, the phone is pretty fast -- you can really feel that processing power kicking from inside. Having used the HTC Hero running 528MHz, the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU really does make a difference. Second, is brown the new black? I honestly didn't like the brown tones on the Nexus One. The brown looked okay on the Hero since…

Google’s Closing the Nexus One Online Store

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: May 15, 2010

When Google opened up their online store to exclusively sell the Nexus One, it was deemed a radical move in the US because of the mix-and-match approach. The handset was never offered in retail stores (not even on display) and the only way to get it was on the online store. Buyers are also given the option to get it unlocked or with a plan from a choice of telcos. Google also promised that other future Google-branded Android handsets will be sold in the online store. It was a nice idea and if there's someone who can pull that kind…

Google Nexus 7 to arrive late August for Php15k?

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: July 5, 2012

We got some very reliable sources telling us that the Google Nexus 7 tablet will arrive in the Philippines sometime before end of August. Of the two variants, only the 16GB model will be eventually released in the Philippines. This is probably because a lot of people will be complaining about the lack of expandable storage (no microSD card here). Also at $199, we don't think Google is making any money out of the hardware but there could be some margins with the 16GB $249 variant. Google's introduction of their own branded Nexus tablet is mostly an exercise to showcase…

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: August 29, 2013

If you're still considering getting a Nexus 4 now might be a good time as the Google flagship receives a price cut and now starts at less than $200. Google Nexus One Price and Launch Date

Relevance: 86%      Posted on: December 30, 2009

It's all official now. Google has sent out invitations to the January 5, 2010 launch date of the Nexus One Android phone. When it first leaked out, I wasn't too excited about it because of a couple of things -- that this isn't the first Google Android (the G1 was), that there are other similarly configured Android phones in the market (HTC Hero, Motorola Droid) and most especially that this isn't really manufactured by Google but instead, by HTC all the same. Still, the Google Nexus One is a looker with the promise of the better and sleeker Android 2.0…

Official ICS OTA Update for Google Nexus S

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: April 20, 2012

The long wait is finally over as Google released the Official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update for Google Nexus S (GSM version) in the Philippines. After nearly 4 months since Google stopped the ICS OTA update for Nexus S due to reported bugs and instability, Google has resumed the roll-out of their latest OS last week. I updated mine last week but gave myself some time to check if there are some things that are different from the manual update that I’ve done previously. Note: This only goes to show that even if you manually upgraded your Nexus…

Globe offers Google Nexus S on Post-paid

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: May 29, 2011

Looks like Globe Telecom is now offering the Google Nexus S to subscribers via a postpaid plan. The Globe website lists it with a cash out of Php21,307 on Plan 299. We've been reporting about the Nexus S, and its intro into the Philippines, since March. Samsung has since been a bit silent about this as well. So aside from gray market units which has been available as far back as January, It's also interesting to note that Globe also carried a Google product considering it's an Apple partner since the first iPhone (it's usually Smart that partners with Google…
