Android Tablet from China out in Malls

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: August 28, 2010

A tipper sent this in this afternoon telling us he's spotted a Chinese Android Tablet in one of the local malls (this is probably the iPed). The tablet runs on an older version of Android (probably v1.5) and looks like the screen dimension is around 7 to 9 inches across. Uses a stylus (resistive screen) and no multitouch support but has a camera and HDMI (not sure, probably micro-USB) port. The Android tablet sells for Php6,000. {Hat tip to Rafael Oca.}

MyPhone to launch MyTablet Android tablet?

Relevance: 95%      Posted on: March 17, 2011

Just had a talk with one of the industry people today and they mentioned that Solid Group, Inc. (SGI), the local MyPhone manufacturer, will be launching their own branded Android tablet in the Philippines. No details are available yet but I'm looking into verifying this story and getting more details and pricing about their tablet. My guess is that it will come from one of those OEMs in China. The tablet is said to be named MyTablet. SGI earned a reportedly Php2 billion in unit sales for the fiscal year 2010 -- that's a 9-fold sales increase from their performance…

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: May 20, 2010

nVidia showed off a prototype of an upcoming Android Tablet designed by Foxconn and running their dual-core Tegra 250 chipset. The design looks a little smaller than the Apple iPad at 8.9" but seemed more portable and handy {via Gizmodo}. The prototype runs a newer ARM Cortex-A9 chip @ 1.0GHz with the video graphics running an nVidia Tegra, expect this to be geared more towards heavy gaming. No additional details were revealed but they said its got 1GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, USB ports and an unknown version of Android OS.

Archos 101 Android Tablet Review

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: November 22, 2010

The Archos 101 is the latest Android tablet from a line-up of five. At 10.1" it is also among the largest tablets currently available in the market. Despite the growing number of Android tablets out there, Archos wants to carve a mark by offering the line that's most attractive in terms of pricing. The Archos 101 is sleek and slim and comes in a black matte finish all over. There are less metallic parts and more hard plastic polymers for the body, making it lighter and easier to handle. The form factor is less squarish and more rectangular to give…

Creative outs own ZiiO Android tablet

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: November 4, 2010

Looks like Creative, maker of music players and speakers, also created their own Android tablet -- the Creative Ziio and they come in 7-inch and 10-inch form factors. Probably the most surprising fact between these two Android tablets is that Creative uses resistive screen displays when everybody else is moving towards capacitive display. The Creative Ziio comes in 7" TFT (480x800 pixels) and 10" (1024x768 pixels) with internal storage options of 8GB and 16GB, expandable using an SD/microSD card slot up to 32GB. Both have WiFi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 but no 3G options. There's no Android Marketplace either…

Design and Construction V99 The overall design of the V99 actually resembles that of the 7-incher Ainol tablets that we’ve previously reviewed.
