Would you read your own blog?

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: April 20, 2007

We did a special episode of the BoBCast here at Punta Fuego. Will publish it when I'm done uploading the MP3 file. One of our discussions there was "If you were just a blog reader, would you read your own blog?" While most of us would immediately shout out a resounding "yes!", I've asked several other bloggers and surprisingly some of them replied they probably would not read their own blog. (This question is different from "do you read your own blog". The question focuses more on the idea that if you were just a blog reader, would you regularly…

The most widely read Tech Mag in the Philippines?

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: October 26, 2006

I used to buy a lot of tech magazines before (last year) but lately I noticed I'm not too excited to grab one from the magazine store anymore. So, here's a question that once popped out of nowhere during one of our regular meet-up sessions: What's the most widely read Tech Mag in the Philippines? Frankly, I have no idea then. I can name the ones I used to read and often see on the newsstands. Guess what the answer was: Would you agreed? Well, PC Magazine has the brand and recognition almost worldwide so it does make sense. What…

Chinese Xu JingLei is world’s most read blogger

Relevance: 84%      Posted on: July 20, 2007

Chinese actress and blogger Xu Jing Lei came on the spot light over a year ago when her blog went to #1 in Technorati's Popular 100, toppling long time favorites like Engadget and Boing-boing. Now, she's back in the news as the most widely read blogger in the world -- 100 million pageviews in 600 days (yup, that's 8 zeros after the 1). CNN reports she reached the 100 million mark last July 12, 2007. She started only blogging back in October of 2005. Although Xu's blog dropped its rank down to #47 in Technorati, the sheer volume of blog…

The Blog Mob: written by fools, read by imbeciles?

Relevance: 75%      Posted on: December 26, 2006

Eric Salas emailed me a link about this article from the Wall Street Journal Editorial Page written by Joseph Rago: The blogs are not as significant as their self-endeared curators would like to think. Journalism requires journalists, who are at least fitfully confronting the digital age. The bloggers, for their part, produce minimal reportage. Instead, they ride along with the MSM like remora fish on the bellies of sharks, picking at the scraps. Of course, once a technosocial force like the blog is loosed on the world, it does not go away because some find it undesirable. So grieving over…

What will it take for Philippine service companies to read blogs?

Relevance: 75%      Posted on: November 12, 2005

About two weeks ago, Smart's Addict Mobile blog portal was reported as not being filtered for nude pictures. The scandal was posted in numerous other blogs but the AMBlog portal went on its exhibitionist spree. Some newspapers were alerted about this issue but they didn't pick up the story. I guess, Smart's on their top and favored advertiser's list. Or, maybe it's not really worth their while and they'd rather report about a Philippine Senator's proxy-blogging history. Anyway, Max of SunStar Cebu picked up the story in his column "Porn in Addict Mobile's blog portal". And true enough, an official…

Been trying out several processors and video cards for the last couple of weeks -- running stress tests, benchmark tools and working on comparative charts. Luckily, I haven't busted a single PC yet in all these (but managed to overloaded a 1,000-va UPS in the process). Here are some of the latest entries I've posted at the PC Labs: Asus ENGTX275 with GeForce GTX 275 896MB DDR3 Lian Li PC-P80 Armorsuit PC Gaming Case AMD Phenom II 720 X3 Triple Core 2.8GHz Black Edition AMD Phenom II 810 X4 Quad Core @ 2.6GHz The AMD-NVidia-Lian Li Gaming PC Finally settled…

Read this before getting an iPad Mini 3 8; save yourself Php5k

Just recently, Apple has made their new iPads available to the local market. While I think it's okay to get an iPad Air 2 for its price, I have to say not a lot of people should buy the iPad Mini 3 for the price of Php20,490, and the reason is simple. Here's why. And no, it's not because it bends - it's because the iPad Mini 3 is just an iPad Mini 2 with a few small changes that might not even matter to you or the person you're giving it to. The iPad Mini 3 has Touch ID,…

One of the PR guys from Vizu sent me a PDF copy of their recent survey for Ad Age on blog readership for this year.
