Rushing for BlogRush?

BlogRushI’ve been reading a lot about this BlogRush traffic exchange program in the past couple of days from almost all big blogging sites around. However, every time I hear about some structured traffic exchange program, I shy away from such campaigns due to several reasons. Let me share why I think BlogRush isn’t something to really rush about.

What Blog Statistics tool do you frequently use?

StatsI would have totally forgotten about my weekly poll, had someone not reminded me about it. The last one ran for about two weeks. I’ve now changed the poll to ask readers what their blog stats tool of choice.

A lot of bloggers are stats whores like myself so we use multiple services. I guess one is not enough (especially if some of them aren’t that reliable).

Here’s the list of the most common ones and you can pick as many as 3 of your favorite tools in our poll:

Demographic Prediction from adCenter Labs

{ Got this from Darren. }

You can use MSN’s adCenter technology to predict a customer’s age, gender, and other demographic information according to his or her online behavior—that is, from search queries and webpage views.

Here’s on I got for this blog:

MSN Adcenter

That’s 51% male and 49% female with average age range of about 25 – 34 years old. Interesting predictions, eh. Hi to all yah ladies out there! ;)

I did another one for PTB:

ptb-adcenter.gif

PTB, on the other hand, is heavy with male readers (62% vs. 32% female) but wiht a much lower age range of 18 to 24. That’s strange. *hehehe*

Note: The statistics are based on undisclosed size of sample data and are for proof of concept only. Actual results may vary.

Post-Summit Metrics

Two of the online metrics that I monitor after each speaking engagement I’m involved with are my Technorati Links and my Feedburner subscriptions. These two figures allow me to measure how many more bloggers I am able to reach or how many people are interested to the topics I talked about that they subscribe to my feeds.

Just before the iBlog2, I had 288 sites linking in and today that number broke the 300 mark. Not big enough considering that most of the links I got are form people who consistently linked to my blog before that. However, I am sure the rest of the co-speakers (and attendees as well) got a boost in their Technorati figures.

Feedburner RSS

My RSS subscription got the highest boost though and first time I broke the 100 mark (it’s around 124 as I write this from the 90+ last week.)

I just hope I don’t disappoint those who subscribed to my feeds for more of them original and better content. :D
