Featured on myGlobe Portal

Some of you Globe subscribers might have noticed this for several weeks now but I’d like to make a formal announcement here. YugaTech Mobile is now featured/listed on Globe’s myGlobe Portal.

The myGlobe Portal can be found at http://3g.myglobe.com.ph — most Globe SIMs have links to this WAP portal. The portal also features the new branded Yahoo! oneSearch by Globe. The blog is listed under Mobile Websites -> Tech & Blogs.

myGlobe Portal

This Content Partnership Agreement was actually signed way back in July 2007 and was supposed to officially turn over by August 1. This includes several of my other blogs — Pinoy Travel Blog, Pinoy Tech Blog, a bunch of the BBN Blogs and Manolo’s blog, which I represented.

We’re hoping that with this partnership, more and more people will discover our content and phone users will have more reasons to start browsing the web thru their mobile devices.

For 3G/GPRS capable phones, the blog will revert to the simple mobile version which allows easy commenting as well. Applicable rates apply — Php 0.075 per KB.

P.S.
On a related note, check out our 5 winners of free Globe AutoLoad in the forums.

However, on a side note regarding Globe’s GPRS payment scheme. Here’s what I noticed.

    ********************

I am testing using the built-in wap browser of a Nokia 6630. The site that I go to is wap.google.com

The GPRS usage every time I access this site is constantly 7.38kb.

If the promo price of Globe is true … each access should cost me P0.55 …

However, upon first access ( as in i’ve been dormant from GPRS for about a few hours ) … I was instantly charged a WHOPPING P10 .. GASP!!

Then upon my 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th try I was each charged a regular cost of P1.24 which translates to around P0.15 ( the regular price for Globe’s GPRS )

So there are two points of contention here. The first being the advertised promo price of 0.075 / kb is not true. I am still being charged P0.15 / kb.

Secondly, WHAT IS THE P10 CHARGE FOR THE FIRST ACCESS Huh!!! Shocked Hidden costs??? Tsk Tsk Tsk
