Apple outs OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Beta for devs

Most, if not all Mac users who have upgraded to the latest OS X Mountain Lion shares the same sentiments about the new OS because it has significantly degraded their machine’s battery life. Apple is said to address just that with the latest version of the OS.

Apple has released the latest iteration of the OS X Mountain Lion Beta for the use and observation of developers and so far, according to them, they have yet to detect any bugs on it. In addition, the devs who got to play with it said that the latest build will have the revamped version of iPhoto which allows the system to be compatible with the iOS6’s new feature called Photo Stream.

However, the most important aspect of this new build lies in its improved battery consumption. As we mentioned earlier, Mac users have noticed that the battery life had considerably decreased after upgrading to the latest OS. According to the test that our source did on the latest build, the OS X 10.8.2 has dramatically increased the battery performance of the test system which is a 15-inch, i7 2.0GHz MBP 2011 version. Here’s a graph which shows how it fared against previous versions of the OS.

If ever these battery tests are true (which I have no doubts that it is), then the OX Mountain Lion Version 10.8.2 Build 12C53 D is certainly good news for Mac users. Whatever Apple changed to the latest build has certainly worked, but it’s still disappointing to think that they needed to two releases before they got it right. Also, they wouldn’t have to address anything if they have extensively tested each aspect of the OS and the hardware it’ll be installed on which makes us want to think that the OS X Mountain Lion was half-baked when it was first released back in July.

Careful who and what you are calling half-baked. Could your reporting be labeled such?

For instance, iPhoto already has PhotoStream and works currently with IOS 5, as it is not a new feature for IOS 6. I use it now. I take it you don’t?

Also, not everyone that uses Mountain Lion uses it on a laptop. There are still many iMacs, Mac Pros and Mac Minis out there. The battery problem doesn’t affect them.

It’s nice to see Yugatech with some Apple coverage, but please stick to the facts and do your research.
