Listen to article

Apple has released iOS 6.0.1, its first minor update for iOS 6 which contains improvements and bug fixes.

The bug fix update mostly focuses on OTA updates issues for the iPhone 5, improving WiFi reliability and fixing camera flash and cellular network issues. Check out the change log below:

  • Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air
  • Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard
  • Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off
  • Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod Touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks
  • Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances
  • Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match
  • Fixes a Passcode Lock bug that sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen
  • Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings

The update can be download via OTA or connecting to iTunes on your PC. For OTA, simply go to Settings -> General -> Software Update.

Following the release of iOS 6.0.1, Apple has also rolled out the first beta for iOS 6.1 to developers. The beta includes an improved Map Kit searching in Maps, a feature that lets you search for map-based content. For example, searching for the word “coffee” would return the location of local coffee bars along with information about each one.

iOS 6.1 beta 1 can be downloaded from iOS Dev Center.

Question sa mga Jbreakers dyan,

Di ako nakasave ng blob for iOS 6, bale yung iPAD 2Wifi ko, nasa 5.1.1 parin.

Tried using TU para makakuha ng blobs for 6.0.1 pero eto reply sakin,

“CYDIA DOES NOT HAVE YOUR SHSH FOR iPad2WIFI2 6.0gm (10A403) THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO GET THEM. SORRY. YOU ARE JUST TOO LATE. 11/02/2012 21:25:28.088 For version [iPad2WIFI2 6.0b4 (10A5376e)] – This device isn’t eligible for the requested build.

Paano ko kaya makuha yung blobs para sa current firmware?

Ano na ba talaga ginagamit ngayon? Redsnow or Tu for iPAD2? :D

iPod Touch 5th users who updated to iOS 6.0.1
I updated my 5th Gen iPod Touch to iOS 6.0.1

I noticed that the upper back area where the WiFi antenna is, felt kinda toasty.

I never had heat (felt warm to the touch) problems before the update.

Is it just me or is there anyone else here is having the same problem?

Happens to my 4S even on iOS 5.1.1. Upper part gets really warm especially when downloading apps via WiFi.

Updates from Android is slow probably because of the fragmentation of their OS (multiple manufacturers + OS customizations),

@kikokix
yup thats true fragmented ang android. pero samsung ang number 1 supplier at supporter ng android and note ang 1 sa flagship nila. ok pa sana if lesser brand and or lesser model. mas mabilis pa nga magupdate mga unknown brands like china fons and tabs lol.

Bec other manufacturers has real innovation when they update. Things like these should be perfected in the first place. These are minor bugs.

That’s why there are updates, unlike other makers whom you will be waiting forever for a software update…
