Rovio outs Angry Birds Star Wars

The latest iteration of the popular bird-slinging game is now available for download on almost all major OS platforms both mobile and PC, except Symbian and BlackBerry OS.

The gameplay is pretty much the same as the previous release, where you have to aim and eliminate all the mean-looking swine to move to the next level. Players will have to work their way up on more than 80 levels which take place in Tatooine and Pig Star (Death Star). Do well on each level and you’ll unlock bonus R2-D2 C-3PO levels.

According to Rovio, this is just the beginning of your journey and they’ll come up with an update that contains Hoth in the coming weeks. To keep things even more interesting (and addicting) there’ll be a handful of weapons, like Light Saber, at your disposal to defeat the pigs from the Dark Side. With the right amount of Stars, you can call upon the Mighty Falcon to aid you in the war against Darth Vader.

Here’s a sneak peek at the latest installment of Angry Birds:

Android users can download the app for free while Apple users have to pay $0.99 for the iPhone/iPod Touch version, $2.99 for iPad and $4.99 for Mac OS X. Windows Phone 8 version will also cost $0.99 while Kindle Fire users have to shell out $2.99 for the game.

Are you ready to take on intergalactic Pigtroopers? If so, then may the Birds be with you.

  1. Tried it out yesterday for a few levels, it actually integrates some of the components from other Angry Birds games (i.e. Space, in particular). Good twist with the Force, blaster and lightsaber-equipped birds.
