iPod Nano 4th gen Review

When the new 4G iPod Nano was revealed, it didn’t made a positive impression on me. It wasn’t anything new at all. Still, I had to give it the benefit of the doubt and take it on a road test (I even got the “4GB collector’s edition” *heh*).

Are these fake iPod Nanos?

First time I saw them imitation iPod Nanos (2nd Gen) were at the 168 Mall last month. This week-end, I saw them again at the SM Appliance Storeand they were displayed in the shelves along with several other music players. Took pictures using my N6233 (sorry for the crappy images).

Fake Nano
The label says the MP4 Player has an FM Tuner, Games, Music & Record Voice.

Fake iPod Nanos
There are two capacities – 512MB (Php4,100+) and 1GB (Php6,400+), in a variety of colors.

I think these are manufactured in the same factories in China, minus the expensive high-capacity flash drives of the original Apple iPods.

Update: Turns out these are MP4-branded  music players that looks very similar to the designs of the Apple iPod. I’m seeing more and more look-alikes of these in a lot of stores in the metro.

Fake 2nd Gen iPod Nano

Just came back from 168 Mall (Divisoria) with my cousins for some last minute shopping before they go back to the province. There were several gadget shops there but one stall really fooled me with this 2nd generation iPod Nano. Took several shots with my phone camera:

Fake Nano

From the glass shelves, it looked like the real thing but when I asked the saleslady how much it was, she replied Php1,900. Ok, that’s a dead giveway. Capacity is still at 256MB like the older imitations I saw at Makati Cinema Square last year.

iPod Imitation

The other one son the shelves had the logo and name of Apple iPod in them. There’s even the iShuffle too wrapped in them cheap green boxes. They must be selling like hotcakes still. Why would they come out with a new model imitation if it weren’t?

iPod Nanos

In Malaysia, they have rock solid iPod Nano imitations which looks, feels and plays like the real one with capacities from 1GB to 8GB (see the online store Lelong.com.my). Prices starts from RM 355 to RM 545 (Malaysia Ringgits) or $102 for the 1GB and $155 for the 8GB — high priced, high-quality imitations eh?

The new colors of the iPod Nano

Apple just released a new pack of iPod Nanos in 5 different colors and thinner. A new 8GB size capacity was also introduced with prices starting at $149.

New Color iPod Nano

They’re soo eeriely similar to the iPod Mini. The iPod Video now comes in 80GB wiping out the old 60GB.

The iPod SHuffle got much much smaller too! Sold at $79 at 1GB capacity.

iPod Shuffle

More here.

I don’t know if I should be happy or not that I bought a 2GB black Nano at the Taiwan Duty Free Shop last week.

Strike 2, Nano!

Last January, Everton Blair of Connected Internet graciously sent me a $100 Amazon certificate for being the 500th commenter on his blog.

He had another competition going on for February so as a regular reader I joined in hoping to double that 100 bucks I got the first time.

iPod Nano To makes thing short, I won for the second time.

That bring me to a total of $200 (Amazon certificate) in prizes and enough to get me that Nano, all thanks to Connected Internet.

iPod Nano imitation

Saw an iPod Nano imitation this afternoon at Makati Cinema Square (MCS). More details posted at PTB: Fake iPod Nanos hit Manila

Unless these things are dirt-cheap, I don’t see anybody buying one of these.

For Php3,500, would you?

iPod Nano already in stores.

Apple is yet again back from the drawing boards to make us all drool with the new iPod Nano.

After the iShuffle, I thought what else could Apple add to their line of iPods? You have the iPod mini, the U2, iShuffle, and the iPod Photo which they graduated into just the 30Gb and 60GB iPod about 3 months ago.

But lo and behold, the iPod Nano is here with the storage of an iPod mini (2GB and 4 GB) and the size of an iShuffle (available in white and black colors). It’s as thin as a regular pencil and just twice as heavy as the feather-weight iShuffle. Like the iShuffle, it’s light enough that you can wear it around your neck or strap it on your arm. With a 1.5 inch color screen, this baby is off to sell millions for Apple yet again.

Retails for just $199 a pop.

Damn, I want the black one, please.
