Anyone noticed Sun domestic data roaming on Smart?

Listen to article

We received a couple of reports from Sun subscribers that they were able to connect to the Smart’s 3G network and able to activate and use their mobile internet.

One subscriber emailed telling us that they’ve been able to hook up to Smart’s 3G and use mobile internet on their phone. Another one texted telling us the same but it seems the roaming is no longer working.

It’s possible Sun is doing a field test for domestic roaming with Smart the same way they did that voice/SMS roaming back in March.

Ya my sun pocket wifi connected to smart 3g network via data roaming.. I confiremd that smart and sun cell. Merge due to pldt and digitel merge and smart runing a test to merge the facility and tower’s to use both frecquincy so smart can connect to sun 3g and sun can connect to smart 3g.. So far so good no additional charge… But not sure if the test phase was done.

Bro, are you sure there is no additional charge if I turn on the data roaming of Sun? I’m currently under the unlisurf postpaid plan but the signal at my place is weak.

Hi All,
I have a SUN pocket wifi and it say’s connection status: disconnected (ROAMING). When I enable my data roaming it does connect to the internet. Anyone can advise why it goes like this? does data roaming have an additional charge?

Thanks in advance

my wireless broadband’s roaming is activated as well and picked up the Smart’s signal but then it can’t connect to any websites at all. Like no data flow.

Is there any way to get it work?

Automatic ba ito, mga papi? O kailangan na i-manual select ang network operator sa phone settings?

Its Smart who are working on RAN Sharing, not SUN.
They are proposing for a network merged and they are doing it first by facility sharing and Tower merging.

Last June 2012, I was in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and was able to utilize Sun’s domestic roaming via Smart network for voice and sms, only getting GSM signal.

Data wasn’t working back then. Hopefully, meron na din this time.

That’s already expected. NTC already approved the use of other network’s frequency to further improve network quality. Smart can use Sun’s frequency and vice versa. As a result Smart’ signal will improve on Ayala Malls like Glorietta where Smart’s signal has been weak ever since.

Right now Im expecting BayanTel to launch their own mobileservice since NTC allowed Bayan to use Globe’s frequency. Globe was also allowed to use Bayan’s unused cellular frequency to improve their congested network.
