BlackBerry Z10 and Globe’s Plan Profiler

Having an LTE-enabled smartphone like the BlackBerry Z10 has its perks, like being able to use a high-speed internet connection on a rich 4.2-inch display. But while you’re enjoying those speeds, do you know if your data plan is well-suited to your needs?

If you don’t know the answer to the question above, then Globe has a tool that will certainly help you find out – the Plan Profiler. The Plan Profiler is a web-based data calculator that estimates your daily or monthly data usage.

To use just select the type of smartphone you’re using (BB10, iPhone, Android or Windows Phone), select your SIM type (Prepaid, Postpaid), then adjust the sliders depending on your estimated usage. The Plan Profiler automatically shows you your estimated data usage and recommended data plan.

For some reason, I noticed that the BB10 consumes more data than the rest of the pack. With a sample daily usage consisting of 20 emails, 20 webpages, 180 mins of video streaming, 10 app downloads, 10 file downloads and uploads, 40 sessions of chats, and 20 SNS posts, the Plan Profiler gave out an estimated 1.0GB while other smartphones are at 482MB.

In this case, the Plan Profiler recommends using Globe’s SUPERSURF200 which gives you unlimited mobile internet for 5 days for only Php200. In my case, I’m using Globe’s POWERSURF 499 which gives me 1GB worth of data for 30 days with support for LTE.

To sum it up, Globe’s Plan Profiler will provide you with good Plan recommendations and alternatives depending on your mobile data needs. If you want to give it a spin just visit the Plan Profiler’s webpage here.

Disclosure: Globe Telecom provided a BlackBerry Z10 unit and a postpaid plan to the author of this post.

I have the postpaid plan 499 under Globe with a peso value 900 = 599 unli BlackBerry surf (equivalent to 999 unli data to other platforms) + 100 three Combo C (15mins free call and 300 text msgs to all network). I am using this in my Z10. Another perk of BlackBerry devices.

you can use the bbmax 599 on the z10? i thought the data plan for the new bb devices don’t need the bb service data plan anymore? also, will it have lte speed even if its just bbmax?

Adrian, u can use either BES or the regular unli data as confirmed by the network. Also, I am able to use 4G (LTE) and other BlackBerry features like BB Protect, etc. The new peso value plan is really amazing.
