Free PLDT DSL upgrades this January

My PLDT myDSL line went kaput just around lunch today and was only able to re-connect just now. One thing I learned about PLDT’s customer support is that they don’t have one or you can’t get to talk to one. What I’d do is call sales and inquire about upgrading my DSL bandwidth or ask for any new promos. Then, I’ll segue into asking if they could connect me to their support personnel at the NOC. Works almost all the time.

Anyway, going back to the DSL upgrades, the customer rep did confirm that PLDT will be doing another round of bandwidth upgrades this January.

Those under Plan 1995 will get 768Kbps from the current 512Kbps. I forgot to ask about the alleged 2Mbps though.

  1. Hi Yuga,

Did you have any problems uploading files (binary) via FTP while using PLDT DSL starting Jan. 3, 2006?

Anyway, thanks for the phone tip! :-)

i also lost my dsl connection around lunch time today. may i know what area you’re from because as of now, 6:15 pm, my connection has not yet been restored! and yes, you’re right about their non-existent customer service. even the agents for dsl inquiry thru 171 is already not answering, as well.

    @ manuel

Haven’t notice any problems with TP but my DSL bandwidth seems to be in the 384Kbps range na lang. Bagal.

    @ana

    Makati area po.

    Hey Abe,
That’s good news indeed for my home connection.
My DSL has been stuck in and around the 380kbps since forever and I’m dying for it to improve. Sana it’s like my office connection….1.5-1.7mbps….sarap..

Let’s plan a meet up soon by the way!

  7. yuga says:

    @ minor

I got lower than 256Kbps now! Something is wrong!

    @ bimbo

    yeah meet-up tayo!

  8. bimbo says:

    Abe,
I have conflicting reports here at home.
Speeds ranging anywhere in between 150kbps to 400kbps, so it seems whatever upgrade they’ve done, I’m not part of it.

    Hay naku.

Sige. Let’s finally set up some sort of meet up. Preferrably with alcohol involved. ;) Let’s talk about it sa YM, you know I’m almost always online.

  9. Hi Yuga,

Any developments on this one? Plan 3K in Makati area still not reaching the 2 Mbps rate.

    Thanks

  10. yuga says:

Nope, upgrades haven’t been done yet. Will check with them next week.

  15. [...] I’ve been wondering why almost 2 weeks now, my DSL connection has been acting up on me. It connects just fine but in a few minutes, there’s no internet then it comes back again then gone another minute. When I called up the customer rep the other day to downgrade my account, I explained to them that one of the reasons why I wanted to downgrade wast the broken promise they made last January. [...]
