Globe Broadband Tattoo at 2Mbps

Okay, I think I spoke too soon. Just got this press release from Globe that they renamed their 3G internet service to Globe Broadband Tattoo.

Globe Broadband Tattoo, formerly known as Globe Visibility, uses a USB stick that works as a modem (more like a re-brand of Globe Visibility). Globe has also upgraded their network so users can get speeds of up to 2 Mbps.

Globe redesigned Globe Broadband Tattoo with some funky designs featuring artworks in black, orange, or blue.

The Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid Kit comes with a free Php100 load that is equivalent to five hours of free internet usage. Users still pay only Php5 per fifteen minutes with multiple connections.

Once users have consumed their free load, reloading the Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid SIM can be loaded like a regular prepaid SIM, whether through Share-A-Load, Globe Load or prepaid call cards.

Users may also opt for a postpaid plan for Globe Broadband Tattoo; there is a range of plans for as low as Php799/month with 60 free mobile internet hours.

Aside from using Globe Broadband Tattoo as a mobile Internet modem, the SIM card inside the USB can also be used for calls and sending text messages at regular cellphone rates. The USB also comes with a built-in expansion slot where users can insert their own microSD card for additional file storage.

The new Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid Kit is sold for only Php1,895.

I bought one and have had nothing but problems. It did install and work out of the box, no problems. Worked for one day, reasonable speed. Day 2 DOWN from 11am to 9am the next day. Globe said the entire Butuan network was down. Next day was OK but speed was extremely variable. Today “Network down” from roughly 7am to 11am… same story.

Also if you do time browsing, which is the only affordable option, you get charge for a new 15 minute segment every-time you loose a connect, which is frequent.

I just do not think that Globe’s infrastructure is ready to support a product like this.

Why don’t you all complain at NTC or at Senate? Since Enrile is complaining about Globe, why don’t you add more fuel to the fire?

    So EVIL.

I’ve said this on the globe tattoo forum. This is just to warn those who are planning to buy/use their globe tattoo:

Globe tattoo is even worse than a 56kbps modem ( even on a commercial area like Makati or Ortigas wherein conn. speed ranges from 0-12kbps ). The ave. speed I’m getting is 0-3kbps. This doesn’t allow to either sign me in to my im, or browse the web, or download files. This is very inconvenient to use. Yesterday is the worst I’ve ever used this thing, from morning to night, I get connected but can’t do anything over the internet, not even logging to im. Aside from that, the ave. times that I get disconnected due to the slow connection is 5x. I have to re-connect again. For every re-/connection, there’s a min. charge of Php5.00. Just for reconnecting, I’m loosing Php25.00. For those who plan to buy a Globe Tattoo, please think again, don’t let your money and energy be wasted, or make sure that you can get a refund if you’re not satisfied.

I’m a postpaid subscriber of globe tattoo 1499. The plan includes 120 hours of surfing and unlimited wifi access to any globequest wiz hotspot.

The connection is VERY UNSTABLE. I access it at the office or at my condo and I’m always only in one spot. I don’t go to other rooms, heck I don’t even shift my laptops position when I access the broadband.

Nevertheless, my download speed would go from 150kbps to 0.25kbps in a matter of minutes. Whats worse is that it stays at 0.25 kbps unless I disconnect my line and reconnect it again. Then it’ll start to download at high speeds until about 30minutes, where the download speed will go back to the glacial 0.25kbps.

All of this happens when I’m connected to HSDPA, no changing bands, it was always HSDPA.

I access my broadband in Makati and the HSDPA signal is ALWAYS full but the speeds are never consistent.

So I opted for an alternative, using the unlimited WIZ WIFI, that comes with the plan 1499. BUT GLOBE, it seems, NEVER wants to provide you the service that you paid for.

You can’t access the wifi unless you send an sms request for your WIZ username and password. The SMS costs P2.50 every request and the password that will be sent to you is only usable for 24 hours.

So if you wanted to use it everyday, you’d be charged an additional P2.50 on top of the amount you pay for your plan. That translates to an additional P75 per month!

I requested for a permanent password through their CSR but I was informed that one CANNOT get a permanent password, and that I will just have to make do with requesting for a password everyday and paying the P2.50 everyday.

I wanted to have my line cut, but they said I had to pay P10,000 because I’m still under the lock in period.

So are you thinking about subscribing to globe tattoo?

I would advice AGAINST it. Try smart brooadband instead.

    here is a tip guys!

if your planing to have an internet connection just for HOME USE only, try to apply for PLDT myDSL line like plan 888 or plan 990 specially if your location is near a PLDT central/business offices…
and upon connection assembly by a pldt technician try to bribe the them to raise ur bandwidth… already tried that because before i work as a technical support for pldt so i know PLDT’s darkside.. hehehe

and did you know that for a line connection even thou you applied for any type of plan line plan880,plan990,plan1320 or any business type of plan you are only paying for SAME KIND OF LINE!!

    believe it or not!

at USA or europe they are only paying for 2 types of line. that is residential and business.. because they have 2 different type of connection.. fiber and copper connection.. here at philippines we only have 1 type of connection.. copper type.. although we have a fiber but it is only use for CORPORATE account…

copper connection can reach up to 10mbps and those corrupt businessman they just limit ur connection to make you believe that ur only paying for that bandwidth.. MARKETING strategy… hehehehe

hope this will help you guys….

tattoo is not bad afterall… but it is only for browsing not for downloading or gaming

what i mean is it is too slow to use for DL or online game….

I tried checking its bandwith on different speedtest site.. the highest result i’ve got is up to 300+kbps… but upon checking on this site i must get UP to 2mbps…

    not even close to haft….

i am a laptop user so i have tried using it on different location like quezon, ortigas and paranaque…

same result,I only get up to 300kbps…

although it is a thumbs up..because it is portable and always ready to use anywhere…

    better than dial-up! :D hehehe

hmmm. one more thing… compare using it on a DSL line.. it is somehow faster and handy specially for a laptop user… you dont have to look for a wi-fi..

i also gunno try SUN just for comparing… no hard feelings for globe fanatics.. as for having a filipino attitude i am just looking for a provider that suite my bills…

    right? :D hehehehe

Why waster your money on buying this USB modems? If your phone is 3G and HSDPA/HSUPA capable use it at your advantage. New phones released on the market have these High speed internet capability. Maybe you all need to read your phone’s manual to use it as a modem. I’ve been using my phone for more than a year to connect to the internet wirelessly. I can’t complain even though my phone is only 3G capable so I’m planning to buy a new phone that have those High Speed protocols.

Get most out of your mobile phone than waste on buying these USB kits.

btw, since desktop CPUs are mostly placed on the corner of the room or sitting on the floor, mobile signal is weak.

technology priorities kasi ang dahilan kaya minsan bagsak ang services ng ibang product ng mga telecoms carrier, wala sila long term plan for thier subcribers, tulad ngayon may technology that evolves with fiber optics, then ang company magswitch ng priority, so they invest more doon sa kikita sila at bago, tapos yung broadband services and DSL, bagsak na. so dont expect for services to be better. sana yung mga subscribers nila tutulungan din to upgrade and avail their new services, or the customer can have discount to avail thier new products diba? ay nasa Pinas pala tayo.

    what do you think Globe.

  18. Avatar for saM saM says:

better than expected, kasi kala ko sa remote place na tinirhan ko mahina signal na Globe tattoo, sabi kasi ng sales rep, di advisable for desktop ang tattoo… but you know what i got, fix connection. Wow. mabilis mag dowload, and upload, di talaga full 2MB full speed, pero sa lugar namin na gumagapang ang signal ng smart BRO, sa Globe tattoo na ako. globe please work naman for 2MB full speed…. yan talaga ang makukuha pag loyal user ka ng globe services.
