Globe ramps up 1GB/day or 3GB/month Fair Usage Policy

Recently, Globe has been sending out reminders via SMS to some of their subscribers about the Fair Usage Policy that they are enforcing. A number of our readers have sent us reports about the daily bandwidth allocation and throttling regulation.

The FUP basically provides an allowance of 1GB per day or 3GB per month, whichever comes first. Once the allocation is used up, subscribers will moved to their 2G network. That means you still get “unlimited” mobile internet but it will be slower.

This FUP applies to all surfing promos and data plans for Globe postpaid and Tattoo Lifestyle Sticks.

It does not cover surfing charged with regular browsing rates (Php5/15 minutes) and those using PowerSurf.

This mechanism is designed to reduce the speeds of only the 3% of users who are responsible for generating large volumes of traffic in Globe’s network.

You can read the full details of Globe’s Fair Use Policy here.

(i wrote to jv ejercito fb, sulat din kayo guys sa inyong preferred public servant)

    Dear Senator JV EJERCITO ESTRADA,

how fast is your download torrent speed? when i try speedtest it shows me 7.27 mbps but when in torrent download it’s just 10 – 15 kpbs.

    • Avatar for nonA nonA says:

    • Avatar for Random guy Random guy says:

Just use port 80 for incoming connections in your torrent client and your speeds should go back to normal. Be wary of the 1gb limit though.

This is actually designed to prevent file sharing, torrent downloads, all of the intellectual property thing shiz….

That’s why i keep my internet activities separate from my text/call activities…

Kung lalabas ako ng bahay at may gustong i-download, i have a pc at home and let it download. besides, kaya nga ako lalabas eh para may gawin, meet up with friends o kasama ko family ko, which i don’t need internet.

at home, pldt dsl doesn’t have any fup or capping, same with sky…

Dahil:

At nagbebenefit ba tayo dito?

    IMPLICATION:

Sila ay mga WALANG HIYA (GLOBE); MANLOLOKO; ISANG IN YOUR FACE MODUS OPERANDI AT SCAM; WALANG MGA KONSENSYA; GANID SA PERA; PAMBUBULI sa mga consumer at subscriber ; SOBRANG DEHADO ANG MGA CONSUMER

    OUR RIGHTS:

Ok guys we all know that 1 gb is not enough on a daily usage of mobile data, even ur registered to unli surfing u dont have to abuse it, sa mobile phone ginagawa nteng lahat or ninyong lahat ang pagdodownload ng malalaking files, ang mobile phone is for only txting, ordinary browsing ,gaming also but not online,if u want to download bigger files, play online games why not use pc or laptop with a connection of dsl or broadband, remember mobile phone is only mobile its not a pc that you can useit for heavy downloading,

    • Avatar for nonA nonA says:

    • Avatar for baliw baliw says:

baliw ka ba? kaya nga may mga android phones tayo na hightech na halos pde mo na gawin lahat dahil sa apps, making them teach us to use our android phones is like teaching us how to run our lives, kitang kita nman na dapat tayo ang nag dedecide kung para saan ang phone na to at paano gagamitin hindi lang for FB and some bullshit, kung mag ffb ka lang sa phone mong malupit sana d ka na bumili ng phone na maganda mag qwerty phone ka nalang na me java para makapag install ka ng apps na pang mail etc. etc. at isa pa advertised nila ung UNLI LTE nila kuno na me cap pala amputa.

  10. Avatar for napi napi says:

kala ko ako lng 12kbps ang torrent.. na cap na pala.. wala talagang kwenta tong globe.. patay ako dito.. 9gb+ na movie files di.na download ko.. ubos agad… may way na ma bypass to? download ko ngayon 150+ di ko alam if sa settings ko to or reset na cap limit ko.. by the way post paid gamit ko..

  11. Avatar for 1gb=unlimited 1gb=unlimited says:

home broadband, yung sa globe depende sa plan eg plan 1599 landline & internet upto 5mbps (ten gb/day allowance ,25% or 30% of the orig speed na lang if ma magamit yung 10gb at parang hindi capped ang torrent nakakaabot ng around 200 to 300kbps download, depende sa plan), sa pldt home dsl naman, wala daw capping ……

smart pocket wifi, wala daw capping (general) pero ang torrent ay capped up to 25 kbps base sa experience . . . share lang po :)

    • Avatar for lare lare says:

yeah, before i was experiencing 800 to 1mb download speed but now it’s just disappointing. you pay 1000 a month and it’s just sad. i thought i was the only one experiencing torrent degrade.

  12. Avatar for lare lare says:

hey guys, did your download speed decrease in downloading torrents even in 3g?

    • Avatar for globeSucks globeSucks says:

ako din hanggang 14kbps lng maximum speed ko sa torrents..anung nang yari sa globe?did globe also throttling the torrents?

    • Avatar for nonA nonA says:

    • Avatar for torrentboy torrentboy says:

  13. Avatar for nonA nonA says:

useless na pla ang wifi stick, pinagmamalaki nila na up to 10 devices tapos up to 21mbps ang max speed.. kung 10 kaming nakaconect at nag.iistream ,update o nag.download ng apps hindi aabot ng 30mins ang 1gb na yan..

  14. Avatar for Bruce Dulay Bruce Dulay says:

Dapat e- scrutinized ng globe telecom ‘yong fare usage policy prior to impose it, coz at this point they were breaching the contract which were signed to those subscribers availed the UNLIMITED INTERNET surfing. But now, it is called LIMITED INTERNET SURFING to 1GB only per day!

And this is not a JUST doing! Hope the GLOBE TELECOM try to listen the CRIES of their SUBCRIBERS!

  15. Avatar for nonA nonA says:

kung may 1gb limit di cge pero sana hindi nila binablock and ibang connections gaya ng p2p..let us use the 1gb limit the way we want to

  16. Avatar for dyame dyame says:

eto ung fair usage policy nila

Globe is committed to providing you with fast and reliable mobile internet service. That’s why we’ve taken steps to implement an Fair Use Policy designed to reduce the speeds of only the 3% of users who are responsible for generating large volumes of traffic on our network which greatly impacts the service we offer to other paying subscribers. These customers often have file-sharing software or peer-to-peer/torrent apps on their phones or tablets, and download large-format files such as music, videos and movies consistently

according sa FUP 3% percent daw affected… pero nung tumawag ako sa globe sabi lahat daw ng user na aabot ng 1GB per day magiging 2G ang speed ng network.. so parang 100% un ng user? kinausap ko ugn supervisor nila sabi ganun daw talga sabi ng nasa taas..

  17. Avatar for Unhappy Unhappy says:

They advertise Unli LTE surfing but have a contradicting Fair Use Policy.

How can still continue advertising Unli LTE surfing when they know it is not possible?

Isn’t this against Consumer Act? They’re misleading consumers.

  18. Avatar for Rikku Rikku says:

I think 1GB / day is too strict. 3 – 5GB would been tolerable considering we have apps that as big as 1.5GB.

I called Globe twice and it seems that it’s not supposed to be 3GB / month. Typo daw, it’s 30GB a month (well technically it’s 1GB / day so it makes sense, otherwise 3GB/month is very unfair ).

Did anyone of you called Globe regarding this?

  19. Avatar for James James says:

Good thing I’m done with Globe, even though they tried to negotiate me not to cut my line. I’m glad I persisted with my choice of going all out from Globe.

  20. Avatar for benedict benedict says:

I pity the person who just got his new iphone/android device on an unlimited plan, who starts installing all his/her favorite apps and games, only to hit the 1GB cap on the first day.
