Globe to offer rebates caused by network disruption

Listen to article

A couple of days ago, Globe postpaid and prepaid subscribers have been experiencing problems making calls and sending text messages across the Metro. Globe then issued a statement explaining that the disruption was caused by a connectivity issue within their network systems.

Globe has been trying to restore its services to normal and in recompense, will be offering rebates to affected postpaid and prepaid customers.

Here’s the official statement:

Temporary disruption in South Manila last September 1

Last Saturday, September 1, 2012, we monitored subscribers having difficulty in making and receiving calls while they are in identified areas in Southern Manila, particularly Las Pinas, Paranaque, Muntinlupa, and Taguig. The temporary disruption was caused by a connectivity issue within our network systems.

By Sunday evening, September 2, 2012, we were able to restore call services partially, as certain affected areas have already reported service improvements. We wish to assure our subscribers that Globe is continuously working 24-7 to make sure call services in the remaining affected areas are fully restored as soon as possible.

As of today, this issue has been corrected and services are back to normal.

Globe is prepared to offer rebates to affected postpaid and prepaid customers. We will notify affected customers with details on the customer rebate through SMS.

We deeply apologize to our affected subscribers for the inconvenience. Thank you.

If you’re one of those affected by the disruption, do drop us a comment on how your rebates are coming.

Note: We remember back in May 9, 2011, Globe also had a network disruption which prompted them to give back rebates to affected customers {see story here}.

Seriously? This has been going on for months!

Problems I regularly experience with Globe:
1. Dropped calls. Hindi pa nag riring, putol na agad. LOL.
2. Delayed messages.
3. Mobile Internert: 3G/HSPA connection is slow to nonexistent! It’s not mobile at all.
4. Signal issues.

What’s ridiculous is when you’re at Ayala malls messages are delayed. Sometimes, I can’t even send a text message! Take note, Ayala malls at makati pa yan!

If most of my contacts aren’t Globe subscribers, I would’ve switched to Smart in a heartbeat.

My girlfriend lives in Muntinlupa and she’s a prepaid subscriber. Just this evening, she received a P20 load from Globe and a message apologizing for the inconvenience experienced last weekend.

It’s not just September 1, I experience network interruption last August 29 and 30 as well.

Will Globe give me a rebate for the money I lost when I got disconnected in 9 tables Sit&Go + a Satellite tourney for WCOOP at PokerStars?

I got disconnected around quarter to 6 and I just got my internet back around 7:30, all Globe network including Prepaid, Tattoo 4G, Postpaid and my BIS got disconnected at the same time.

I lost around $400+ because of this incident.

I hate SMART when it comes to callback issues (complaints, especially on bills) pero they offer me 85 to 90% connectivity on mobile which I don’t get from other networks.

To add, SMART does not have the most flexiible and affordable plans but they do deliver.

Back when I was using Globe postpaid, everything was a mess. When I used Sun postpaid, connectivity in the province was frustrating… With Smart, it was fair enough.

For these networks though, especially for postpaid subscribers, read the fine prints of your contract/s and somehow be logical and reasonable with your requests — not one person in any of these company’s support team have access to everything you want/need.

Trust me, a loss of a hundred clients won’t bother them as they know that we don’t have much options…

You people should seriously stop complaining; just switch to Smart. I never had this problem in my 4 years with them.

That’s BS. You dont complain kasi wala kang complaints eh. So just allow those people na magreklamo na magreklamo.

Theres no exactly a perfect network nor a consistent net connection. Smart offers u the same problem. Ang mganda lng dto, globe ay nagkukusa for the reversal o rebate at published pa! But in fairness smart has broader coverage

exactly! i am a smart subscriber of its unli data plan 2k. for one month now, all i get is a “G” signal sa aking mobile data connection in my residence in tondo. anywhere else, it’s HSPA, and it’s somwhat fast….i was considering pa naman to transfer to globe, til i saw these negative feedback re: their connection…..so, i’m lucky pa pala that im connected to smart!…..haaay, ganito ba talaga sa third world country?

based on my experience, globe does offer rebates. but that’s it. once you have received the “blood money,” they will say “case closed.” they don’t address the root cause but just offer band-aid solutions.

Yes there is no perfect network but there is less crappy network.

It’s like them saying, “Here, take the money. Stop complaining. Pretend it didn’t happen”. Haay Globe!

I have to for some personal reasons (no, it’s not that Globe threatened to sue me or something). But please. I tweeted you about this thing hours ago.

Globe should recognize that the network problem we, their subscribers, are experiencing is not limited to one area but the whole country. I, for one, have experienced problems in Laguna and Bulacan areas. They should extend their rebate programs to all subscribers.

My problems with Gobe.
1. Dropped calls – major problem
2. Weak signals even at ayala malls???
3. I normally have to dial twice to call pldt landlines.
4. 3G really bad everywhere.
5. A few wrong numbers, crosslines.

The only thing preventing me from leaving is that 90% of people I call are on Globe.

I have gotten texts that cell sites near me are under modernization but even after that I see no improvement. Think it all BS PR.

I really have a hard time calling Smart numbers, I’m on postpaid plan and I had this for almost 10 years already. It’s really tempting to switch.

Shouldn’t Globe just do an across the board rebate for the “technical” glitch?
I live in the affected area but my billing address is in Ortigas Center. I’m just wondering how they are going to go about the rebate.

I’ve been experiencing network issues for atleast 4 months now. I’m a postpaid subscriber located in Makati. The most disappointing for me is the internet service for my phone, I’m using blackberry and subscribed to BIS.
