Some of the initial releases (Galaxy S5 and Spotify press releases) and sources close to Globe have confirmed that the telco will be overhauling their data plans — completely dropping both SuperSurf and PowerSurf promos in exchange for a unified GoSurf data plans.
We don’t have the complete details of the GoSurf plans but a few of them were also mentioned in their Galaxy S5 and Spotify pages.
GoSURF10 – 10MB for 24 hours (free Spotify access, data not counted against quota)
GoSURF 299 – 700MB for 30 days
GoSURF 999 – 5,000MB for 30 days
It is likely that once you reach your 5GB limit for the 999 plan, you can just subscribe again for another 5GB after that or any of the lower-tier GoSurf plans.
The old PowerSurf plans were more expensive (Php99 for 50MB, Php299 for 300MB and Php499 for 1GB).
The new GoSurf is very similar to PowerSurf while SuperSurf will be completely removed from the offering. This concretely enforces the telco’s move to shift to volume based pricing instead of time-based charging (thus obliterating the whole issue on data caps).
Globe will probably make the formal announcement on Monday next week.
Updated: @talk2globe has tweeted that they will not discontinue SuperSurf plans to current subscribers. We’ve updated our story to reflect this.
Sinasabotahe ng Globe ang sarili nilang kumpanya.
Gusto yatang maubos na ang kanilang subscribers
Napaka bobo talga ng globe bobo nyo
GoFuckYourself Globe and FUP (fuck ur policy) haha
sana di tumulad ang smart
i agree. malaki pa naman ang caproom ng smart sa ngayon and na extend din ang unli LTE nila.
We want this to steal more money with our customers.
hindi talaga maganda ang mobile internet kapag iyon ang primary and sole way mo in connecting to the internet :(
I might opt to subscribe pldt’s data service. Aww, another monthly payable. :(
Anu ba yan? Powersurf99 ko nga dikomaconsume in 30days tpos me eksena pang iba.
dafuk with globe… mas tipid ang powersurf specially sa mga student na nagreregister ng powersurf15 (20mb for 48hrs) …base mga kakilala ko hndi sila nagreregister sa powersurf10 or MB10 (10MB for 24hrs) tapos papalitan pa ng GoSurf10 or higher? tsk..
Theyre not dropping powersurf or supersurf, accdg to Globe.
currently on postpaid unlisurf (2+years already) and i must say that i’ve been using more than 5gb of data per month without my connection getting throttled (average game download from steam is around 5-8gb). i sure hope that they “grandfather” the consumers who subscribed to their unlisurf promotion and not force gosurf on everybody.
ganto naman rin ginagawa sa ibang country. i think it’s even better kasi makakamura pa ako, bale pay for what you use nalang. Dapat lang. :)
Ok rin to na blog about go surf – http://nivo-slider-blogger.blogspot.com/
Yes I agree! :D
Shameless plugging. Hayok sa visitor hits, haha!
I’d go for GoSurf! :D Mas ok ako dito kasi I’ve read somewhere that it’s not subject to FUP daw since it’s an MB-based subscription. :)
FUP is 3GB cap with unli 3G speed afterwards.
You will still have internet connecition after consuming 3GB.
With this, you will be cut off after 5GB.
(based sa nabasa ko dito sa article)
*correction 2G speeds pala not 3G speed.
@roiji
Napakabagal ng 2G para sa akin, para ka na din walang internet.
Meron nga silang Free Facebook, pero macha-charge ka pa rin..
I’m so glad I opted out of the unli-surf plan when I renewed my contract. I’d rather wait to go home to have better internet connection than waste my consumable with Globe’s super slow 3G/LTE connection.
They are forcing me to change my primary connection at home.
hahaha.
kainis.
This is how internet subscription works in other countries I’ve been to. You pay for 3gb or 5gb for a fee much higher than 999 pesos.
Only that here in the Philippines, the internet speed is terribly slow.
in the UK they also have the volumn subscription 7gb for £30 this is for the dongle, 3g speed is 10-24Mbits, 4g is 20-40Mbits,
while there is also an unlimited mobile data for £15, 10gb cap per day, 3g speed is 10-24Mbits, 4g is 20-40Mbits, but if you try to use it for desktop browsing they will terminate your add on :)
If they will do this to me then I will not pay for my IP5S plan, they can send my garbage bin a demand letter for all i care.
It is also possible they will let you keep your SuperSurf 999 until your contract ends and just implement the 3GB cap as previously announced.
are you KIDDING me? Gosurf999= 5GB data 30 days?? mas naging worse pa… dati 800mb per day x 30 = 24GB dati ang consumable sa supersurf999…
yes 800Mb cap per day. but still 3GB per month.
if you consume 800Mb per day, you will be switched to 2G in less than 4 days.
it just gets worse and worse, are they going bankrupt? Its starting to seem like it
I’m currently on postpaid and subscribed to unlisurf. Does this mean that I will be automatically to gosurf? I certainly hope so since the 3gb cap is a bummer.
I guess in your next cut-off you will have the option to upgrade to GoSurf and get 5GB instead of the old 3GB data cap.
