Sun Cellular’s latest offer under their Plan 450 is a bundled device — a 7-inch Polaroid 3G tablet and a 3.5-inch 3G Android smartphone. We took a closer look at both devices to see if they’re well worth the Php450 monthly plan from Sun.
Both the tablet and the smartphone are branded under Polaroid, once a strong brand in the photography industry. Both devices are entry-level models but are all equipped with 3G connectivity.
The Polaroid Diamond 3G+ is a 7-inch Android tablet with a TFT display and resolution of only 480×800 pixels. The screen looks a bit washed out and pixelated once you take a closer look. Despite the dual-core 1.2GHz AW13 processor, the unit performs pretty decent and capable of running almost all the basic stuff. Storage is just 8GB but is expandable to 32GB via a microSD card.
There’s some noticeable lags or delays that you will encounter from time to time and don’t expect it to be able to perform well with graphics-intensive games. The tablet is good enough for web browsing, using social apps like FB, Twitter, and FourSquare and even watching HD movies.
The normal position of the tablet is oriented horizontally, as this is still an Android ICS device. The front-facing camera is found on the top right corner, the speaker is on the left corner while the power button, volume and other ports are found on the right side of the unit.
At the back is the flip cover for the 3G SIM card slot and microSD card slot. The smooth, matte finish of the back panel feels good on the hands and gives you a comfortable grip.
The 3.5-inch Pro97135 Carbon 3G Android phone is the other item in the bundle. We covered the unit during its official launch here in the Philippines back in May.
It’s also a basic Android phone with 3.5-inch TFT screen, 256MB RAM, 512MB internal storage, a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and the usual connectivity. It also runs Android 4.2 Jellybean and has a 1,400mAh battery rating.
Both devices come free when you subscribe to Sun Cellular Postpaid Plan 450 with a lock-in period of either 3 or 6-month period.
Unlimited Sun Calls and Texts
20 hours of Mobile Internet
250 Texts to ALL Networks
These two devices were the ones we gave away last week.

I don’t recommend it’s just a waste of money.
I got the handset and unit last Oct. 29, 2013 at plan 450. The handset I got was defective. I returned it for repair last Nov 13, 2013 and until now I didn’t recovered it yet.
Red Dot/Polaroid Philippines’ after-sales service sucks big time. i got a polaroid phone back in july and had issues with the touch panel just a month later. i brought the unit to the service center and was told that i would get a replacement unit after 3 weeks. 3 months has passed and i still have not heard from any of their staff from the so-called service center in espana. i ended-up wasting more than 30 minutes just to get them on the phone. I am getting tired of the same old excuse about them still waiting for the replacement unit. just awesome.
so pangit pla yang polaroid diamond tablet..buti nalng nabasa ko to,,mag aavail pa naman sana ako

so… is it well worth the Php450 monthly plan from Sun?
both wifi ready na po ba yang 2 gadgets?? and how many months to pay po ba?
WiFi Ready na po both gadgets and 30 months po ang lock-in period nya
Since its 3G, you have to pay extra for the internet. But 3G is versatile, you can have internet access anywhere even withou Wifi.
That said, I think there’s a smarter option than paying for 3G for a single device: buy a mobile hotspot instead. These pocket-size gizmos connect to 3G (or 4G) networks, then share that connection via Wi-Fi to as many as five nearby devices–not just one. And the monthly rates are about the same as you’d pay for one gadget with built-in 3G. o.o
Android tablets and phones can also share 3G connection via teethering
so is it worth or not?
3 or 6 months lock-in period?
30 months lock-in period po
