Based on a quarterly report from Globe, it seems like Postpaid subscribers are spending 7 times the amount on voice and data services compared to Prepaid subscribers.
A recent press release from Globe Telecom indicated that their average revenue per Postpaid subscriber is Php1,492 for the 2nd quarter of 2008.
On the other hand, average revenue from Globe Prepaid subscribers is just Php206. TM subscribers even spend less — Php107.
Total Globe subscribers is just over 22.7 million but only 727,000 are postpaid and all the rest are prepaid. That’s about 3 postpaid subscribers for every 100 prepaid users.
What’s actually interesting is how much Globe spends to acquire new subscribers. It’s Php5,209 for postpaid, Php28 for Globe Prepaid and Php36 for TM users.
Btw, been told Globe is currently holding an investor briefing today which will also cover Globe’s plans for the iPhone 3G. I guess they’re about to announce the launch date of the iPhone today.

Globe Telecom should give postpaid users more freebies. :)
Interesting stats on the pre versus post subscribers. One thing in which there is room for improvement … Globe, Smart, et al, might think about … I am a strictly prepay Smart user. I would much, much prefer to be a postpay subscriber. But the requirements for a postpay account are more stringent than those I faced to get a new car loan!
I mean. seriously, the cell system is 100% automated and computer controlled, so the amount they could be at risk for, should I start running up charges and not paying the bill is totally under thier control … unlike say the bank’s risk on a car loan where I could tale a million-peso plus car to a chop shop, collect cash for it and report the thing stolen … they’d be out a million or more. It’s silly.
But due to some very old-fashioned thinking in all the major carriers here it is very clear that they don’t _want_ postpaid subscribers …it’s no wonder they spend a lot for each subscriber because they make it a paperwork obstacle course to become one.
Why anyone would bother is beyond me…
