I also preordered for HTC Sensation on Smart:

    http://smart.com.ph/htc1/

Atleast the release date is clear and you can choose where to pick up the unit (once approved). Would very much want the SGS2 sana kaso I don’t wanna buy it without a data plan na mamamaximize ko rin lang naman for two years, dun na lang ako sa kabila kung sakasakali.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Kelan ka nag-apply online? Ika-7th day na since tinawagan ako pero hanggang ngayon wala pang tumawag ulit. sa tuesday yung ika-7th business day kung ganun pero kakaiba naman itong preorder process nila. It doesn’t primarily serve the purpose of preordering. Hope you guys can update us kung natawagan na kayo to confirm na dadating na unit nyo on a specified date as I will update you guys din kung may tumawag na sa kin.

    • Avatar for oc oc says:

Isn’t it strange how Globe’s customer service (both sales and account support whether via 211, facebook, twitter, e-mail or chat) are totally clueless of any updates regarding preorders? And how the online sales support team are unresponsive with regards to requests for any updates?

Globe doesn’t understand such a simple concept as “Preorder”.

Available na everywhere this coming Monday ang SGS2. I was so excited about preorder and thought I could own an SGS2 before its release. Its really a big letdown.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Same here… sabi nila they will contact within two working days. Approved or not they should contact us within that period given.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

If Globe is favoring this price scheme di sana di na sila nagpapreorder preorder na promo pa. I’m a little pissed off with Globe right now.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Hahaha!

    • Avatar for Zo Zo says:

Yep, a rep told me pre-ordered units are available on 25-27, but knowing Globe, it’d all come down again to number of allocated units per Globe Center, so i suggest being really early on those dates to pick up your unit.

Pareho tayo. I preordered June 18 din. Pero in the afternoon na. Tapos late ko na na-check email ko that day kaya kinagabihan ko pa nasubmit dox ko. Kaya late na rin ako natawagan. Sabi sa kin either ngayon or tomorrow ko daw malalaman.

    • Avatar for aa1372 aa1372 says:

      natawagan ka na ulit?

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Di pa nga rin e. Ikaw? Hehehe. Update man dyan kung sino man ang confirmed yung preordered nila. Hehehe.

    • Avatar for aa1372 aa1372 says:

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Sabi dito (tipped by Maki below): http://www.pinoytechblog.com/archives/samsung-galaxy-sii-pre-order-promo/
you can avail of the OPENLINE SGS2 at 26,990PhP PLUS may mga kasama pang accessories for free. Kaso lang sa July 2 pa lalabas. I don’t know what’s taking globe so long to confirm our preorders. Pero pag di ito magmaterialize baka ipa-terminate ko na lang pati old account ko sa kanila and avail of the HTCS sa kabila. I don’t know why pero humihina signal ng globe sa bahay namin lately e. Pero smart and sun full signal kahit sa loob looban pa.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Or I can go Sun with their cheaper rates and unlimited offerings and save up for the next iPhone this September or a nokia windows phone on the last quarter of this year.

      So many options…

    • Avatar for ron ron says:

    • Avatar for ron ron says:

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Still hoping? Hehehe. Based on some feedback, medyo mabagal daw talaga ang Globe sa mga online applications.

    • Avatar for aa1372 aa1372 says:

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Yeah, S2 din gusto ko. Unlocked yung bootloader ng Samsung kaya you can do almost anything to it (network unlock? hehehe). Pero kung malabo sa globe then I seek the next best deal whose plan is just about right for my usual mobile consumption.

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

By the way, if you view the webpage of Samsung Galaxy S2’s features on Globe’s site now (http://site.globe.com.ph/galaxy_s2?sid=TgH7NMuxpRcAAGgtKVAAAAFWe): They’ve corrected the erroneous plan 2799. It’s now 2499. Hehehe. Curiously, di nila binago yung feature na may NFC yung phone. Hmmmm. (Keep crossing fingers.)

    • Avatar for aa1372 aa1372 says:

      may delivery date ka na?

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

La pa rin. No calls. No feedback. No anything. =(

      Kaw?

  12. Avatar for Zo Zo says:

awwww. globe’s just offering the i9100 model… making me think twice already…

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

Pero nevertheless, that model is still very much capable. Kasi kahit sa India, i9100 pa rin naman (Super Amoled+ and Exynos pa rin instead of the supposed SLCD and Tegra). I’ve read a statement of NVIDIA before na mali yung sinasabing nagconfirm sila na may lalabas na ganun model (though di rin naman nila dinedeny). Well, I think I’d still enjoy this model whether there’s another model coming out or not.

  14. Avatar for mike mike says:

besides 2 year plan? In 6 months there will be a new technology, quad core ice cream sandwich tablet phones, with same network support and faster processor. In a year, 3G phones are obsolete. There’s no use buying the latest and greatest. And there’s no use getting tied up with one network committed to pay this much amount every month.

    • Avatar for ztx ztx says:

pwe, manahimik ka na nga lang!

6 months from now, for sure pag labas ng quad core ice cream sandwich tablet phones na sinasabi mo, sasabihan mo na naman na overpriced ang mga yan… at dapat ang mga dual-core, GB smartphones ang bilhin kasi under 20k na lang ang price…

    • Avatar for Chris Chris says:

Mike, that’s the reality and how fast paced technology development is. Example, iPhone has 1 year tech cycle so every year you can expect another new iPhone model. Holding on because 6months or a year from now there will be a new technology that would replace the current technology is pointless like I’ll just buy next year because the technology is cooler but when that time comes you say again next year nalang kasi mas cooler ulit. It’s about the timing dude … you really don’t need a quad-core cellphone 6 months from now which by the way would again be subject to your unkind criticism of OVERLY PRICED TECHNOLOGY :) …

for the above post from Mitch and ztx, I can easily buy this phone in cold cash. But what the heck will I buy this, I do not see it as too different or too improved from my current setup. Buying this phone at a ridiculous price just means I tolerate overpricing. I like buying affordable devices as I believe this would help a lot more people and send the message to manufacturers that they have to produce useful affordable phones for everyone. Technology should not just be limited to a few insecure, ego-boosting idiots. It is all about how you use the device to make yourself productive.

    • Avatar for LilBoyBlue LilBoyBlue says:

You just said it. It’s all about how you use the device. Haven’t you stopped and thought that people who are availing of the plan really use the free internet? Quit generalizing that everyone who avails of the plan are bandwagon junkies. Sure you have your own opinion but don’t go raining on anyone else’s parade if you have any beef with the product or telco.

You say it’s overpriced? Have you thought of the production cost of this phone and the cost of your oh so powerful 6k droid phone? It’s just like any other market in the world. Boy you must have a sad life. And you just made mine sadder because I just reacted to your post.

    • Avatar for Mitch Mitch says:

We are not questioning your capacity to buy this phone so please dont publish it to the world that you can buy this phone with cold cash. Its your personal perspective that this device is overpriced and could not improve your current setup, so be it!! People have own personalities and say on what they want to buy or not. They are not your replicas. And besides you said it yourself and I will quote “It is all about how you use the device to make yourself productive”, so we find this device as useful and we have weighed the pros and cons of this device and also taking into consideration the price to buy it. Try using this and someone will probably shoot you dead and grab your phone. 2 second difference for a your life.

    • Avatar for Techie_girl Techie_girl says:

To put things in perspective, I know of a cheaper Android phone, less than 6k but I still buy the latest handsets. It’s not because I’m a sucker but it’s because phones interest me and I CRAVE technology. It’s about fueling your knowledge/interests. When I was in high school, my family didn’t have internet or access to the latest technology. We had a homework that had something to do with technology and naturally, I didn’t get it right, then I discovered the Internet, computers, gadgets, and Moore’s Law. I’m hooked, its not enough that I just read these things, I have to experience them. So every 6 months or so I upgrade my gadgets and sell the old ones. If I’m lucky, I only pay around 1,000 depreciation value for my stuff.

I don’t know if this is accurate analogy but if you have the money would you rather put your child in Ateneo or save your money and put them in public school? Of course its about fueling your child’s future/knowledge. Same thing, I’m fueling my interests/ knowledge.

I’m sure this would work better with SMART LTE…

    • Avatar for xx xx says:

SGS2 is not LTE capable, only HSPA+ capable (up to 21mbps). (Again) It is labeled as a 4G phone because of the marketing of HSPA+ as 4G in the US and other countries.

      List of LTE-capable phones here:
      http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/finder_results.php?m=s&w=s&f30r=r&f30_16=y

All of which are still not marketed here via official channels dahil di pa naman available commercially ang LTE on any network (YET!). Kung iisipin, LTE technology on phones has not yet fully matured (such that it consumes too much space on the device and consumes battery fast when used).

I’m sure the SGS2 would also work well with the HSPA+ network of Smart when they’ll launch plans of greater speeds commercially using the said technology. That’s why this phone is pitted against HTC Sensation because both can handle HSPA+, though HTC Sensation can only handle HSPA+ speeds of up to 14.4mbps.

HSPA+ technology currently is capable of speeds of up to 84mbps and future revisions can even yield 168mbps or even 672mbps in its advancement. So you can’t really belittle HSPA+ when comparing to real 4G standards.

With all these “4G” talk, I’m really beginning to wonder if the networks will really give us mind-blowing speeds. First and foremost, kelangan ba talaga natin ng ganun kabilis na speed? I think these technologies were developed to enhance the capacity of the network but with regards to the speed, it would somehow plateau on a certain level.

      I talk too much
