Sky Broadband to offer 200Mbps cable internet

Listen to article

We just received and invitation from Sky Broadband for the launching of their new internet plan that reaches speeds of up to 200Mbps (that’s right — 200 Mbps!).

Sky Broadband started offering their 112Mbps in August of 2010 with a monthly service fee of Php19,999. It was also limited to certain areas (like The Rockwell).

We’re thinking this new 200Mbps plan will be similar to the old one they offered two years ago. We tested that internet speed at one time and was getting over 80+Mbps on SpeedTest.

While we have yet to confirm additional details, we’re pretty sure this will be in very limited areas only. Will update you after the launch next week.

Hello, Neat post. There is a problem with your website

market leader and a huge part of other folks will pass over your great writing due to this problem.

Wala moderator dito? bastusan sila oh. Meron talagang tinatago ang mga ISP na sinasabing Shared Bandwidth, that is an additional Info lang. No one force you to believe.

It would be nice if the bloggers who pass on these PR announcements actually called the companies on this stuff.

Its called the world wide web but ISP’s here insist on quoting there theoretical rate to their local exchange. When your paying Php 20,000 per month what speed rate can they actually offer to other countries.

Let;s face it most content is hosted in the US or Europe yet Philippine ISP’s buy the minimal amount of wholesale bandwidth, share that among 10’s of thousands of subscribers and then hide behind poor SLA’s and claim they dont control the speed of the internet.

at one point i was thinking of getting cable broadband from sky, but thanks to blogs like this one, na eexposed kapalpakan ng mga companies na yan.

i’m already happy (but not contented) with my cable broadband provider for the last two years kahit 1 mbps lang plan ko, at least I get to use their services consistently & very good technical services to boot.

Haaaay! kelan kaya darating ang araw na my disenteng provider at nang makatikim naman sila ng “Shut up! and take my money” from me. hahaha.

Most likely this will be launched in Makati and Ortigas area, I see billboards of it for Valle Verde 1-6 already.

@thecorrescode sinabi ng shared bandwidth yun 200Mbps, so kung 20,000 kayong subscribers na sabay sabay kokonek eh, do the math, obviously masahol pa sa dial-up. Gusto mong dedicated? Mag leased line ka, yun eh kung afford mo! LOL

Agent ka ba ng Skybroadband? Or pathetic fan. At saan nakalagay na shared bandwidth. This blog article clearly states “up to 200Mbps”.

Kahit ano pa, IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE na ang speed ng connection is same speed with dialup considering na broadband yung connection. Skybroadband sucks bigtime.

200 MBPs for 999! Up to 1GB free!

The 200 Mbps bandwidth for your information is shared bandwidth, you will only attain that top speed if you’re the only subscriber which unfortunately is not the case.

The article failed (not OP’s fault, maybe due to bits and pieces of information received from Sky) to mention the committed information rate (CIR), and the usage (in GB). Just like their other offerings, this one for sure will also have a usage limit.

Someone should sue them. False advertising it is then. ‘200 Mbps’. Their 112 Mbps can’t even reach a hundred. Shit company.

kung pwede nga lng sana, pero madalas mapanloko talaga advertisement para makakuha ng masmaraming customers

Just like politics, advertisement is full of promises but very little truths =/

Yung 1.5MBPS nga di nila mabigay ng tama, yung 200MBPS pa kaya. Subscribed ako sa 1.5MBPS, pero yung download speed ko eh wala pa sa kalahati, minsan bumabagsak pa as dialup. Gesh, dapat class action suit against Skybroadband.

And don’t get me started about the term UPTO. Dialup speed or less than half of the subscribed speed is totally unacceptable.
