Smart Communications thought their Smart Wifi brand is knee deep in the mud right now that the best thing to remedy the bad publicity is to re-name it. So, they came up with Smart Bro (is that a shortcut for broadband?)
They did some clean-up and even remove pages from their official site which mentioned Smart Wifi. Too bad that page is already #1 on Google, Yahoo and MSN for the term “smart wifi”. (I suppose my blog will take over that spot, eh?)
Migs pointed out that that Smart Bro is also a browser and a few days after the switch, Smart’s pages are already in the front page for the keyword. (I’m hoping this page will be somewhere near in the next couple of days.)
PLDT’s myDSL-w has also been consolidated under this single brand name. Subscribers comment that there’s really nothing new in terms of service improvements — just pure PR and bundling of services.
A commenter at Smart Wifi Chronicles adds:
Kaya lang nagpalit ng pangalan ang Smart Wifi To Smart BRO para maitago yung negative feedbacks ng Smart WiFi na masesearch sa Google. Kung Smart BRO nga naman ang search mo, wala pang negative feed back kasi sariwa pa.
… and I kinda agree with him.
The subscription plan did change to Php999/month, which is more expensive than the old one.

Guys let’s support my friend, he has filed a complaint with NTC against Smart, he declined na makipagayos sa mediation, and wants to pursue an actual case sa Arbitration ng NTC, it’s been more than a month at wala pa ring reply ang NTC, we hope hindi nagkabayaran at walang corruption na nangyayari. Email him all your grievances (unitedagainstsmart@yahoo.com) para lumakas ang kaso nya against Smart, he’s looking for a volunteer NGO, and customers na dismayado. Pag hinayaan natin na hindi umabot sa NTC at hindi magkaroon ng justice sa kaso na ‘to, para na rin nating pinayagan ng lokohin tayo ng Smart at perahan ng perahan. Let’s help him help us.
Guys let us not lose hope, pag tumahimik tayo, pag tinanggap natin na kaya tayo ng Smart, talo talaga tayo. Laban lang.

Hi guys.. ask ko lang.. I often reinstall my windows. what if my smart bro ako.. do i need to call smart everytime I reinstall Windows to configure my Internet settings?? I hope someone would answer. thank you
Dear Shin,
You don’t need to ask anything from SmartBro personnel, even if you reinstall your Windows or upgrade to Vista once a week or twice a day, your “setting” stays in your Antenna.
So don’t bother with the configuration…..unless you made a tweak before hand. Thats out of the story.

swerte lang cguro ko kasi ung tower ng smart halos kapitbahay ko lang. i’ve been using it for 2 months, never experienced downtime or even the slightest speed lag. just my luck hehe.
mydestiny sana kaya lang mga lasing kausap ung mga sales rep nila. pag di mo alam name ng dati mo nakausap, di nila ma pull up records mo.
they promised 5 days connection, tatwagan ka daw 1 day before installation, lagi ko pa nga pina-follow up kc im really excited kc daw ako pa lang ang magkaka destiny d2 sa place namin sa t.sora. it took 3 weeks tapos sasabihin lang nila na magpapadala pa daw sila ng engineers para isurvey ang site!! unbelievable. e 2 nang sales rep nagsabi sa kin na 1 week lang max sa survey.

kaya di na ko nag aksaya pa ng time, that day na sinabi ng rep un, punta agad ako smart. at first duda ako kc sa sobrang pangit ng comments sa mga forum, i’ve realized na kapitbahay ko nga pla tower, so i took the chances, a day after dumating na kaagad ung mag-iinstall. bilis nila.tska lagi silang nag uupdate kung madedelay ng appointment time.
so here i am .still a satisfied customer. im getting 350kbps connection.stable.pinakamababa na 300kbps which is normal.still u get wat u paid for.
mabagal ang smart bro sobra hndi nasusulit ung binabayad mas mabuti na lang nitro ka na lang>>>>niloloko nila tao

For those who are not satisfied with the speed of your SmartBro connection, sana hwag naman kayong mag salita ng pangit….It’s easy for you’s to say “manloloko, “niloloko”, “sinungaling”, atbp….But keep also in mind that there are others who are satisfied with the services…..Kaya, they do not deserved to called that way.
Your connection doesn’t speed up with that kind of attitudes….pag papakilala lang yan ng kababaan ng pagka-tao.
I have been using Smartbro more than a year now….em happy with my connection and satisfied. If you plan to go with other internet services, I hope you’ll find what you are looking for, goodluck! Just don’t say bad words.

i think the reason why nagkaka intermittent problem ang smartbro in some places ay dahil sa congestion.. lalo na kung maraming naka smartbro sa isang area, lumiliit ang bandwidth. unlike dito sa amin sa mindanao particularly in oroquieta city where there are only a few of us in subscription, steady naman kami sa 370-377 kbps. i hope smartbro will keep up their service.
ps. diko pa pati tini-tweak ang canopy ko.
eto pa pahabol: i say you guys look for an ISP suitable for your place. kung nasa city ka, i suggest you go DSL kasi broadband, but if you’re like in our place na konti lang ang population, ok lang ang smartbro. never have i seen “request timed out” during a ping on smartbro.. sana ganito pa rin ang smartbro kahit dumami na kami ditong subscribers..

Ako badtrip na din diyan sa wifi actually ako yung pinaka una sa lugar namin na magkaroon nito di naman talga smart wifi ito kung di Meridian so kinabitan ako nung una ayos after a week 1 month ako nawalan ng service badtrip talga no choice lang ako nung una dito kasi walang DSL sa amin. ngayon inalis ko na ng DSL na lang kami mas mura at ok ang speed

Wag kayong magtaka sa smart bro. Number 1 ang smart bro, pinakamabilis din.. Aus nga e imagine nagagamit m lang 5 hrs. w/in a week, then pagdating ng bayaran, dun sila magaling ipaalala. Kaya magagamit mo un kahit saan na may signal ang smart. unlike nung sa plan 999 na kelangan ng canopy ng smartbro para gumana.kaya sa baging SmartBro Anywhere, pwd ka mag internet kahit saan at a guaranteed speed of 384 kbps.
ang bad news nga lang dun eh 40 hours per month lang ang free sa 799 na babayaran mo..
hindi xa unlimited gaya ng plan 999.
