Smart has just confirmed the pricing of their new 42Mbps Smart LTE service. Their sign-up page outlines the details — 42Mbps, 10GB, at Php3,500 a month.
The postpaid Plan 3500 comes with a free LTE dongle (worth Php8k). MSF is Php3,500.
There’s are no more details of the plan except those stated above. What seems to be missing are:
â— What are the exact locations of the coverage?
â— What happens after you consumed the 10GB cap?
â— Will they allow you to buy more bandwidth or just shut you down?
â— Will they throttle you down when you reach the allocation?
â— Will they switch you to HSPA+, HSPA or 3G if there are no LTE signal?
We’ll just have to wait ’til August 25 during the official public launch to find out.
pareho lang sila ng sister company nyang SUN CELLULAR! 3.6mbps daw pero di nila nilalagay sa ad nila na 2AM-6AM mo lang marereach ang speed na to! KALOKOHAN!!!

10gb for 3.5k php? This is a trap
10GB? PUTANGINA SMART
Sir Abe and Calvin,
Do us a favor do not attend the launch. This is just crazy!
kundi kami umattend, pano namin malaman kung ano yung reasoning nila behind their pricing scheme?
alam naman natin na ang totoong reason for the price scheme is more and more profit. Yung excuse naman nila palagi ay network congestion, abuse of use, piracy…. Pero kahit pa naman piracy basta nagbabayad sa kanila ng mahal ay pinapayagan nila.
Well, it is anyone’s option to attend or not. Sana lang ay ieducate na mabuti ang subscriber and magbigay ng honest opinion kung favorable sa subscribers yung plan or hindi.
@Calvin
di ko binasa yun article yun graph lang. pero base dun sa graph sa pinost mo 42mbps na unlimited is only around 78$(3.2k php) while 42mbps with 10gb cap is around 45$(2k php). e di lumalabas na mas mura pa din dun???
hahaha tama… mas mura nga sa Europe $2.50 per GB. nag malik mata ako doon.
pero mas mura pa rin tayo sa Japan LTE pero not by much.
@Smart wtf according to this report, http://www.wirelessintelligence.com/analysis/2012/08/european-lte-operators-look-to-new-pricing-strategies-to-boost-mobile-broadband-revenues/
mas mahal LTE bandwidth sa ibang bansa per gigabyte compared sa inooffer ng smart. are you comparing 3G bandwidth with LTE bandwidth?
If you compare the bandwidth to price ratio dito sa Pinas sa ibang bansa, you would be surprised kung gaano kamahal ang internet service dito..kahit i factor out mo pa ung purchasing power parity ng peso..super expensive parin grrrr..+ my cap pa..kalokohan.
high speed. low data cap. perfect formula for bill shocks
burn in hell smart communications!!!!
burn in hell LG mobile phones!
This plan is favorable to Smart.
This is a trap for consumers, especially for those who are not well verse about data cap, GB and mbps
I will not be surprise if many consumers will later complain of Bill Shocks
Not a good deal. Especially to online entrepreneur like me.
Its like a ferrari with 1 liter of gasoline…useless!
10 Gb per month?! what a joke.
this is like having a 10sec car but you only have 50 meters of driving lane. tsk tsk tsk. i’d rather have a regular broadband speed with unlimited bandwidth (sun cellular)
10 gb-A DAY.. NOT BAD! :) But if its 10 GB a month.. hmmmm
how can you live more with a 10gb cap?
BTW, if you saw the full page ad in the inquirer last Aug 18, 2012, the ad says “Download HD movies in minutes”
