SmartBro’s fixed wireless is now PLDT MyBro

Smart and PLDT are silently re-aligning their broadband services. The fixed wireless service which is the original brand for SmartBro (previously Smart WiFi) is now under a new label called PLDT myBro.

That means SmartBro will now only have the mobile wireless services (Plug-It, Pocket WiFi, Rocket, Rocket WiFi, etc.).

This puts myBro right along the PLDT’s DSL services (PLDT myDSL) line-up, thus the naming convention.

Based on the release we’ve seen and the TV commercial, PLDT is positioning myBro to students.

There are two plans — MyBro 799 with unlimited internet at 512Kbps for Php799/month and MyBro 999 which is unlimited at speeds of up to 1Mbps.

However, the messaging that I am reading is that if you’re already on PLDT myDSL (e.g. Plan 990 or Plan 999), there’s no difference between the two so there’s no need to switch. myDSL is fixed wired and myBro is fixed wireless so performance, uptime and latency will be different between these two services. If you’re into PC gaming (which is a lot of the students are in their target market), you’d want to get the myDSL plan rather than the myBro plan.

    sino po pwede makausap about sa bill account, wala po talaga akong alam na 2years contract na pala etong mybro connection ko, sana po may matanungan ako about sa issue na ‘to, kase wala po talaga ako pambayad sa 2years na yun. i thought kapag hindi ko nabayaran e mawawala nalang connection ko, sana po masagot nyo mo, sobrang nagaalala lang po ako kase 4months na ako hindi nakakabayad sana po tulungan nyo ko mapa-cancel yung 2years na yun… PLEASE HABANG MAAGA PO. TNX!

    ung 2yrs contract na sinasabi mo jerrylyn is a lock in period…its a contract between the communication company and the subscriber. ibig sabihin ng lock in nakatali ka sa kanila for 2 years kapag gusto mo ipadisconnect within or sa loob ng 2years babayaran mo ung disconnection fee pero kapag lumagpas ka na sa 2 years hindi mo na need bayaran only your bills.

    Hi guys. Does anyone here knows how to connect the plan499n to a router? ilang beses ko n kinonfigure ang router ko, ndi p rin makaacces ng internet through wifi and other ports. It’s just exclusive for 1 unit only ang nakalagay.

      As per my experience with a 3 years smart Bro Connection(Now MyBro whether we like it or not) you need to clone the Mac address of the last device that worked on it.

      Yes exclusive to one device kasi yung Ipad may ethernet port Not.

    Putting the fact aside na “Hindi alam ng CSR nila yung tungkol sa MAC problem ng service nila” ngayon na wala naman dati, hindi rin nila sayo ipapaalam na may CAP na.

      WAG. Mag-Globe ka. Kahit na hindi mabilis ang Globe at least reliable na mayroon kang internet.

      Ang MyBro may cap. Mabilis nga, pero you can only enjoy those speeds for at most 1 week per month. The rest of the month, parang wala kang internet dahil automatic na ini-lilimit nila ang speed mo to 20KB/s max. Useless.

      To clarify: yung 2mbps na promise nila seven days mo lang magagamit per month bago mo mareach ang cap.

      Para kang bumili ng monthly supply na 1 liter na gatas kasi malalaki yung bote sa advertisement nila. Pero sa totoo, yung 1 liter, para lang yun sa first week, the rest of the month, kutsarita na lang ng gatas ang idedeliver nila.

    please help nag avail po ako ng my bro 499 bale 10 days ko pa lng sya nagagamit nawalan n ng connection then itinawag ko na sa *8888 and pinuntahan ko na din sa pldt office pinapa cut ko n po pero ayaw nila bakit ganun and yung bill tuloy2x pa din may babayad ka ba ng 3000 plus sa ted days internet? grabe talaga ang smart my bro
