While we were on the topic of broadband, I asked more about Globe’s Speak and Surf and found out some really juicy details about their new product. I believe this was also mentioned during our last meet-up when the Globe Team did their presentation.
- Out of the box solution for broadband internet and landline telephone.
- Use the wireless internet and the phone at the same time.
- Connects to Globe cellsites using a wireless modem/router via CDMA technology.
- Up to 256Kbps connection speed.
- Costs Php995 per month including the phone line.
- Free text messenging within the network (
500 SMS per monthunlimited for the first 3 months)

I was told that this hasn’t been rolled out commercially but they’ve been doing rounds door-to-door. We should be seeing print ads and TV commercials by October. Hopefully, this would answer the growing complaints for a Smart Bro alternative.

Hi!! GRABE!!! MORE THAN ONE MONTH NA ME WALANG CONNECTION WITH SPEAK N SURF NG GLOBE…..THE HELL WITH THEIR CONNECTION D2 SA CALOOCAN..PURO NA LNG DAW UPGRADING WITH THE SYSTEM..BAGAL PA CONNECTION..
GLOBE REALLY SUCKS..
We just applied for Speak And Surf, 2 weeks na.. wala pang nangyayari sa application. Globe Stinks!
Sana mag-improve pa ang speak and surf.
may i know if antipolo is part of speak an surf areas?
Yup! meron sa antipolo CDMA nga lang ata (not 3g).
Maganda and dl speed ng globe, sa akin umaabot ng 1mbps, but ave of 500kbps. Pero ang UL speed nila ang basura! max ko is 70kbps, ave is 50kbps! So it means hindi pwede or mabagal sa online games and download ng torrent.
One more thing goodluck kung makapagDL ka sa rapidshare, kc we are using one ip address so kapag may nagDL na sa RS hindi ka na makapagDL!
Payo ko lang mag Smart bro na lang kayo, I still have my Smart bro (formerly Smart Wifi) kc kahit paano mabilis ang UL speed nya w/c goes upto 100-200kbps, kahit na ave of 300kbps lang ang dl speed ok na din! At mabilis ang connection and activation nila, unlike sa globe w/c took them 3 weeks to activate my account!
ei, do u know panu unLock ung DDD ng gLobe speak n surf… cant get support from globe eh
i do agree with the comments regarding the speak n surf. sa mga pamphlets nila nklagay 384 kbps but then pg nainstall na and tumawag k sa kanila dahil sa mabagal na connection, saasbihin nila sayo na 256kbps lang pala. at isa pa kung mahilig kayo sa mga internet games, WAG na WAG kayong papakabit nito. it s*cks when it comes to games. and yung mga costumer support rep nila, walang alam about the product that they are supporting. tinanong ko kung bakit inaabot ng 1 day madownload ang 21MB na file, sabi ba nman sakin “kasi sir dapat hindi lalampas s 256kbps ang iddownload nyo, un po kasi ung maximum na kayang idownload”. amf! tama bang sagot yun?
grabe! just using globe for a few days grabe! ISP Bonanza dial-up is even faster in attaching a very small, 83 kb Word file in Yahoo mail. I was eventually dropped with my globe connection so i just turned off the modem and re-attached my phone connection to dial-up na lang! GRABE TALAGA! I cant believe they sell this stuff even if its a lemon! I contacted my agent pero wala reply. I HOPE GLOBE GETS THEIR ACTS TOGETHER ON THIS ONE. Sayang talaga…
PUTANG INA NYO GLOBE SAYANG PERA NG NANAY KO PUTANG INA NYU NAPAKAWLANG KWENTA NG PRODUKTO NYU SUPER BULOK GAGO SA 3am HANGANG 8am LANG MATINO CONNECTION AMPOOTA GAMITIN UTAK MGA TAO NG GLOBE AYUSIN NYU TRABAHO NYU WAG LAGING NAKATUNGANGA KOSTUMER NYU NAPEPERWISYO
I agree with indie. Something’s got to give with Speak N Surf. Globe shouldn’t be so stupid in just letting this service ruin the good reputation of their entire organization.
Whoever had masterminded this service should double his or her effort, as the DSL war was particularly strong this year. As I post, I was given a standing offer to move over to a wired DSL connection. I’m now tempted to consider their offer.
I’ve prepaid my SNS to cover 3 months. This will be the best time for them to improve its service, or its gonna be goodbye to them for me.
I’m planning to subscribe with globe’s SNS, which the agent’s told me that they have 3g signal here in Navotas and Malabon (700kbps). I’ve got a smartbro setup here (350kbps++) for almost 7 months. And it improves a lot since activation. I’m planning for a SNS cause I need to be on mobile. However I’m not sure it’s performance in Baguio. Maybe it is useful for all of us here to know each posters location. and Yes, SNS advantages and disadv. I’ll be using SNS mostly for eMail replies and for file downloading. There are times that I also use the service of Rapidshare. I hope what those agent’s have said wont disappointed their clients. In fairness to Globe, of course you don’t want to waste transmission power to increase in areas where there are less subscribers, but see to it that they have sufficient bandwidth for all subscribers in that area to enjoy.
Hi!
I just got my SNS unit Tuesday last week, July 3. After testing our place for signal strength and after paying 995 pesos, they left with us a Globelines phone and a ZTE MF 600 HSDPA modem. They also told me to wait for a week (or 5 to 7 working days) before my account gets activated.
When I tried last Saturday or barely four days after we got the unit, I was surprised to find out I can already make calls. I tried calling landline, mobile and long distance numbers, all were working. Then I tried connecting to the internet and it also works.
Since then we have been using the service especially the internet connection with some short disconnections. I tried placing the modem in a place where I believe there is strong signal and since then I have not encountered any connection problems. Download speeds range from 400 – 500 ++ kbps while upload speeds range from 40 – 60 kbps.
There is an indicator in the MF 600 called RSSI (Radio Signal Strength Indicator) which according to the manual should be turned-on constantly before making a call or connecting to the internet. Ours was not turning-on at all except for a short time after I turned-off the modem and turned it on again (reset). This gave me the impression that my account is not yet activated.
I reported this observation to the agent who sold me the service but received no reply. It is working well so I really did not mind it at all. I am thinking of buying an external antenna for this modem.
Globelines (or Innove) offered this service to only 30 residents in Soldiers Hill Village here in Muntinlupa. We have been using the service for five days now and so far so good.
We are living near a PLDT switching office so I tried of applying for MyDSL. Apparently they have run out of facility so they are pushing instead Smart WiFi (then) and Smart Bro (now). I actually have an approved application from Smart Bro and all I need to do is pay the 999 initial payment for my service to be installed.
I guess I will not be pushing for Smart Bro as we are currently satisfied with our Globelines SNS. With all the bad press Smart WiFi then Smart Bro has been getting plus their termination clause (which requires you to pay for the remaining months of the 1 year lock-in period) really turned me off.
Globelines SNS has a lock-in period of 2 years but will require you to pay for the equivalent of two months service fee in case you wish to terminate the service within the lock-in period. This coupled with the bundled phone line makes Globelines the better choice in my opinion.
My connection has been running on super slow for 3 weeks now. Funny thing is it slows down around 8:00pm – I suppose when call center agents start working on their east coast accounts. Clearly a case of bandwidth throttling where Globe redirects precious bandwidth to higher demand, higher paying customers such as the call centers. Should be ok though, except they are using bandwidth previously allocated to a customer segment to serve another – most people would call this stealling!
Well, these people obviously do not know the power of the consumer… so send your hate mails to the bosses of Innove…

Oh and did you know that Manny Pangilinan actually responds to each and every complain that he gets when he still owned PLDT? Never get that from the bosses above. To think that MVP is so up there… interesting.
Enjoy!
Hi!
I would like to ask if anyone here has a working setup for connecting the ZTE MF600 HSDPA Terminal (given by Globelines) to D-Link’s DI-524 wireless router?
I bought the wireless router to share my internet connection. I was able to make the connection work by connecting the MF600 to the switch port 1 of router. I also changed the admin address of the router to 192.168.0.2 so that it will not conflict with the MF600′s IP address. I also turned-off the DHCP functionality of the router. This setup in effect has turned the router into an ordinary switch.
I would like to have the setup work by connecting the HSDPA terminal into the WAN port of the router not switch port 1 (where you connect other PCs). If anyone can share information on a working setup like this, will be highly appreciated.
Many thanks.
I hate the fucking speak and surf! I’t's either there is a bloody problem on the phone or in the internet! Fuck you Globe! I want my money back! Die you son of a bithch! I hate your service! Bastards!
I have the same problem.
Don’t even think of using a router.
Boy, how I wish di na ko kumuha nitong speak n surf.
To think I used to look at globe as the more “high brow” telecom, being concerned more with quality than quantity. Well, Globe sure dropped the ball here. The genius who thought up Speak n Surf should be fired.
Yun ding call center nila. Laging excuses lang ang alam nilang ibigay. Each time I call to complain about connection problems, walang palya, may maintenance daw ginagawa. Anong maintenance ang ongoing for months and months?
The only lesson here is that Globe cannot be trusted to deliver quality service. Imagine, i-roll out nila product na ganito? I for one will never be a Globe customer again.
Goliath, I hope the innove email addresses you posted are correct because I’ll be sending this post to all of them.
Peace!
Hey Dude!!
TO the TFC subscribers i would like to thank you for supporting………
ano nga ba GLOBE OR SMART BRO by the way mmmm… wala kmi paki alam sa away or competion nyo dalawa network nyo basta ako bnabati ko lng ang mama at papa ko thank you sa comment
I have been complaining regarding the SNS service in my area for more than half of my subscription… all they tell me is that they are monitoring the situation and doing updates! three months! ilan engineers nila?
it is so frustrating, eto ako bayad ng bayd sila nmn wlang improvment. so much for consumer rights! they even offered to waive ung pre-termination fee but when i followed it up, hindi pa daw na-foforward…
sobrand walang kwenta pa customer service nila… favorite excuse right now is network daw inaayos, so wala ka na habol. pero the same network charges you monthly!
btw, for your speak and surf concerns, you can forward it to ccad@ntc.gov.ph to Engr. Edgardo Cabarios, Director of the NTC-CCDA
So much to say about globe, first of all yng mga nag dodoor 2 door na tga globe ay nagbe2nta pa kahit alam nila na yung dun sa area ay hndi masyado good ang signal,AW wtf…
2nd: Activation of account ang kupad i process, yun ang sa sns…but try their wired broadband satisfied ako sa connection… although minsan intermittent pero minimal lng mangyari..^^
