Telcos file appeal against Php7B SMS refund

Since late 2011, the SMS rates of telcos should have been at Php0.80 per text message as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission. Failing to comply, local telcos have been required by the NTC to refund the multibillion-peso amount to their subscribers. Now, said telcos have approached the Court of Appeals to stop the Php7 billion refund and the reduced rate of Php0.80.

Earlier this month, the NTC has junked the telcos’ motions for reconsideration, and now they are applying for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the refund.

We wondered how telcos can possibly refund the multi-billion peso amount to the subscribers a few weeks ago, and we have an article dedicated for that right here.

It’s all a scam. NTC pressures telcos to refund Php7B. Telcos pay off high ranking NTC officials for Php several millions. NTC stays quiet.

Sige, umasa pa kayo. Tutal, libre naman managinip.

how they would able to refund 7 billion SMS refund to million subscriber? there are already a huge number of prepaid and postpaid numbers that are no longer active or were already recycled.

telcos are way too greedy to let go. the 7B PHP questions are, when and how are they going to return this as soon as possible?

I don’t think that they can refund the money. Just invest it in better service and lower service plans for both prepaid and postpaid. Pagandahin sana yung infrastracture para bumilis ang internet at makinabang ang nakararami.

I wonder what happened to San Miguel’s plan to be one of the telephone industry players…

As if may power naman ang NTC. Tsk. Goodluck sa refund. At kahit anong batas ng NTC. Baka sila pa ang sumunod sa regulation ng mga network.

Putangina mga Telco ang kakapal ng mukha nyo. May pagapela pa kayong naiintindihan. Next step for the NTC is to mandate all telcos to adjust their VERY overpriced internet plans here.
