Verizon launches XLTE in the US

While most of us here in the Philippines are still stuck with sluggish and sometimes unreliable internet connection, Verizon Wireless has started rolling out the XLTE in 44 states in the United States which is touted to double the 4G/LTE bandwidth and increased peak speeds in supported areas.

For those of you who are not keeping tabs, Verizon was granted permission by the FCC in 2012 to purchase network spectrums from the country’s largest cable providers, most of which are UMTS band IV or commonly known as AWS.

After getting a nod for the $3.9 billion airwaves purchase, Verizon then upgraded their LTE cell sites in order to take full advantage of their newly-acquired AWS spectrums. Fast forward to today, and Verizon subscribers can finally reap the benefits of faster and less congested internet access courtesy of XLTE.

While all Verizon subs living in one of the many XLTE cities in the US will experience improved 4G LTE internet connection, consumers with XLTE-ready devices will benefit more in this recent network upgrade since their devices can ride the AWS bands wherever it’s available. XLTE-compatible devices include the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Moto G.

Right now it sounds like Expression Engine is the preferred blogging platform out there right now.
(from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?

USA times: AT&T merged w/DirectTV; also Comcast merged w/Time Warner Cable. It’s like saying that Skycable will merge w/Cignal; If that happens, I feel sorry for myself cause those bills I pay every month, will skyrocket. P3,500 per month? Welcome to Royal-Capitalist Philippines!

Europe’s skybroadband.com offer up to 38mbps for only £20 per month at hindi pa lte yun.

    • Avatar for Easy E Easy E says:

Wow.

    • Avatar for archie archie says:

    • Avatar for Easy E Easy E says:

    • Avatar for Easy E Easy E says:

Along with Sun Mobile, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Cignal, San Beda, the list goes on and on. Since He’s loaded with money, He would probably form a RnD company that will solve every other Tech Problem that exists… Telco Arms, Mr. Economist!

a farfetch idea here in Philippines because ISP’s LTE speed is just like HSPA+ and sometimes still slower considering so far it covers selected and small areas, the rest is still suffering and living with the speed of 3G and sometimes 2G. While the other countries are beginning to roll out their XLTE we are dreaming of, our telcos are still busy milking us by not providing what you pay for.

  8. Avatar for benchmark benchmark says:

I am sure, telcos here in Ph will release this so called XLTE even if their LTE is not stable yet. Worse, even their slowest 2G is still unstable.

Para masabi lang na they are upgrading, they will release this.

And telcos here has just started to roll out the LTE. Turd world country for sure!
