New telco player, Wi-Tribe, has finally addressed their bandwidth strategy by offering some sort of pay-per-use.
Aside from doubling up the bandwidth cap to 6GB, you’re able to top up your bandwidth usage by Php200 per GB.
The current 4G packages include: 1Mbps @ Php998 and 2Mbps @ Php1,998 per month.
I know that the Philippines has one of the most expensive rates in terms of bandwidth but Php200 per GB seems very high.
If that’s the case, then they should just bump up the speeds to 5Mbps or even 10Mbps since it’s consumption-based (downloading 1GB of data in 10 minutes costs the same as downloading 1GB in 3 hours).
I would rather stay with my PLDT myDSL subscription.
Di ba suppose to be pinakamabilis yan wimax, bat di na lng nila gawing speeds up to 5 mbs with a monthly fee of 1,500. Mas maraming magcoconsider nun.

FAIL!
i believe they considered the COST OF MERALCO… marketing geniuses!
and smartbro? “UP” to 2Mbps… when? where? how?
this are the reasons QUIAPO will live on… forever?
no thanks…i’ve tested wi-tribe and when I access http://www.whatismyipaddress.com it blocks it…
possible it blocks other sites as well those that will test their quality
great -__-
Its too pricey for if you’re just the average downloader. A 2 to 4 MBPS of speed if more than enough for you both on surfing, downloading and your social network needs. I guess the 6 GB bandwith is dial for business owners who needs the speed specially for their business but I do not see a lot of people signing up for this just for personal use. :)
Well at least it’s much cheaper compared to Globe’s P0.15 per KB.
@eonzerimar – can’t find it, can you resend? thanks!
@sus – I directly forwarded that concern to their PR before.
ya but the problem is it dont work
too expensive for me :(
What a poor marketing strategy. Can’t they think of something attractive? Ang mahal.
Sus! Yung reklamo namin about wi-tribe exposing our email addresses to other subscribers hindi ka nag-blog.
Huh? 200 pesos would get me five days on SmartBro Plug-it.. Which would translate to.. 25GB. What the hell? So 25GB x 200? You do the math.
FAIL. 200 Per gigabyte is too expensive! Using up that precious 200 pesos would only take a few to an hour minutes to consume. So much for “unlimited” service.
thats already 5 days of unlimited prepaid internet for smartbro and globe tattoo.
hmmm price for urban areas only….. :) hope they offer it a little more cheaper in key provinces..
sirAbe nareceive mo ba email ko regarding the prize i won?
Globe Wi Max has no capping… I think.. has anybody tried it?
lol.. no thanks =3
hmmm…….expensive
