BayanDSL offers IWantV! Live TV and VOD

Listen to article

BayanDSL is now offering live streaming TV and video-on-demand to all it’s DSL subscribers and Sky Broadband customers. Available channels include ABS-CBN and cable channels.

Although I’m not a BayanDSL subscriber (I’m on PLDT myDSL), they sent me a test account to check it out. The site uses Windows Media Player embedded on the page to stream videos.

At the moment, I can watch live TV from broadcasts of ANC, Al Jazeera and DZMM Teleradyo. There’s a short delay of about 30 seconds from what I see on cable TV and what is streamed on IWantV! but I guess that’s due to the compression to low-bandwidth quality.

On cable, I’m also on Destiny so I don’t get ANC. IWanTV streams ANC live. So far the live TV looks okay and streams quite well. I wish they’d put an option to make it available on full screen.

On the other hand, ABS-CBN shows are provided as video-on-demand. It’s not live but archived shows from the previous days/weeks. Great for when you missed last night’s episode of “May Bukas Pa”.

The current list of video-on-demand shows include: Katorse, May Bukas Pa, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Pinoy Big Brother, TV Patrol, Bandila, SNN, The Buzz, E-Live, Wowowee, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Kalye, Correspondents, Profiles, XXX, SOCO, Bottomline with Boy Abunda, Sports Unlimited, Showtime and Lifestyle Channel Shows (MetroWear Randy Ortiz 60s, MetroWear Gala, Metrowear FDCP 2008).

Live channels only include ANC, Al Jazeera, Myx and DZMM Teleradyo.

Aside from Sky Broadband and Bayan DSL subscribers, ZPDEE, Bayan Broadband and Surfer by SKY subscribers can also register for free as long as they have at least 512kbps download speed.

Check it out here.

Some people criticize this as a flawless design for i – Phone
and prefer their old i – Phone. The unlocked version is the same as those that have already hit the market, but they
do not come with an SIM card. One of the best features found in the
device is its 8 megapixel camera that further comes blessed with useful options.

Tested iwantv.com.ph last night, and it was pretty good. Also, I was able to create 3 separate accounts using 1 Skybroadband account number: 1 for me, 1 for wifey, & 1 for brother. Kewl!

@hubes:

By the way, I didn’t use Safari during the test… haven’t used Safari anyway, always been on Firefox when using my Mac. So I wouldn’t know how it will perform if using Safari.

@hubes:

Updated my Quicktime & Firefox… I did a stress test for one whole day. Went well. Some delays during peak time (about 2:23 PM, expectedly since many users were online), but was acceptable.

Bayan and Sky are owned by the Lopez family that’s why ABS-CBN Channels are included.

Just tried it right now, and it streams well enough. My only problem with it is the available shows doesn’t appeal to me. I’m hoping that BayanDSL increases the choices of shows and videos.

Kinda like PLDT Watchpad? This competition is great for consumers! More stuff for us and prices are getting lower and lower.

But I am a Globe Broadband user for almost four years now.

bakit wala atang ganito ang Globe?
