Just two weeks from the announced acquisition of Groupon, the Beeconomic team has set up office in the Philippines (as Groupon Philippines) to strengthen its presence and get better deals from local retailers to offer to members.

Here’s a copy of the press release they sent just a while ago. No word on where the local office will be (update: it’s at La Fuerza Plaza, Don Chino Roces Ave., Makati City).
Groupon Philippines Press Release
Groupon normally negotiates between 50% to 90% off regular prices due to high group-buying power. Several other local group-buying sites have already made the same progress (to note, we’ve got Buyanihan, Awesome.ph and CashCashPinoy), all of which offer great deals as much as 92% off.
Beeconomic’s strength is in the health & beauty, events/activities, restaurants and services sector. They’ll obviously expand to other markets as they grow their local team.
About Beeconomic (Groupon Philippines)
Groupon’s recent entry into Asia was a huge move (after a buying spree in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan) and it happened in the middle of a rumored acquisition by Google (reportedly at $6 billion).
P.S. Beeconomic is actually pronounced as be-economic (not bee-conomic).

Groupon? Oh come on! They are very nasty when it comes to policies. Oh poor businesses out there who fell into the traps of groupons. Anyway, here’s a better community management and rewards platform for every business. No commissions. All profits go to the cash register!
