Thought Google Fiber is the fastest internet service money can afford? Well, think again because So-Net Entertainment Corporation, a local ISP in Japan and a subsidiary of Sony Corporation has recently unveiled NURO, the world’s fastest home internet that’s twice the speed of what Google has to offer.
NURO runs on Japan’s GPON (Gigabit-capable Passive Optics Network) which is capable of handling top DL speed of up to 2.49Gbps. From the network, it is distributed to offices and households through optical fiber which then passes through a device called ONU (Optical Network Unit) that converts the signal to broadband internet.
So how fast is So-Net’s NURO? It’s capable of an eye-popping downlink speed of 2Gbps with an upload speed of 1Gbps. It’s so fast that it makes our current LTE service look like dial-up connection when pitted against it.
The service is being offered in Japan for USD51 on a two-year contract plus an additional USD535 for installation fee. Now imagine if we can hook up to that kind of connection. Not bad, considering that you’re getting what you’ve signed up for unlike here in our country.

Maski janitor ata dito naka 50 Mbps.
Dapat ibawal na “UP TO” na internet speed advertising.
i’d take this anytime without hesitation!
don’t care about the installation fee mahal naman talaga mag latag ng optic fiber XD
So why can’t the philippines do this? I don’t understand why the country stays so far behind. They tax the people a lot, so they have money, whats the hold up?
like duhh as if u don’t know! its bcoz TELCO’s and the government here in the Philippines are all greedy and corrupt! all of their faces look the same “BUWAYA”.
imagine all the movies you can download!!
on your website? heheh
Why download when you can stream Full HD and even 4k videos at those speeds?
Kapag inadd yung monthly bill for 24 months at installation fee. Mahigit 3000 pesos per month lang. :O
Sana focus muna sila sa EDGE or 3G, kung mabigay nila ng 90% nung speed nun as in CONSISTENT for the whole year round, then dun sila lumipat ng 4G or LTE…
Hence the 4K movie stream and PS4 live stream services.
$51 a month but $535 installation fee?
Let’s do the math comparing it to a 3mbps offered by PLDT, shall we?
$51 x 24mos = $1224
$1224 + 535 = $1759
$1759 x Php41 = Php 72119
PLDT 3mbps
Php 2600 x 24mos = Php 62400
P 62400 + 1000 (installation fee)
= Php 63400
for less than 10k PHP I’d take this if it were just available here.
while here in the Philippines, you’ll have to dish out Php20,000.00 per month for a measly 100Mbps speed (PLDT fibr, Globe Torque) compared to that $51 per month with 2Gbps :/
Lol, imagine 51USD per month.. or about 2k php per month lang. and you will get that speed. tama ba?
from what i understand, ung 51 USD (2,100 PHP) na yan is good for 2 years, kaso magkakatalo lang sa installation fee na 535 USD, which is nasa 22,000 PHP :)
if ever magkaroon ng ganyan dito, its only good on Paper. dahil greedy ang mga Telcos dito!
Bow.
