Spotify to introduce videos on its Android and iOS apps

Spotify, the popular music streaming service, will soon include videos in its services for mobile users starting this week.

According to The Wall Street Journal’s report, Spotify will introduce video content on its Android app starting next week, then on iOS the by the end of next week. It will initially rollout for users in the U.S., U.K., Germany then Sweden.

As to what kind of content, WSJ reports that the videos will be based on the kind of music people listen to. One example is MakerStudios’ comedic rap series “Epic Rap Battles”.

“We are at the end of a journey of testing,” Shiva Rajaraman, Spotify’s VP of Product told WSJ. “We are going out effectively as planned. Our goal was largely to get a wide breadth of content and experiment and test.”
