Logitech Z523 does 360-degree sounds

When Logitech signed up to be an advertiser on this blog, I was curious what they’d be launching in the Philippines. I had a hunch it would be some sort of speakers so when the banner ads came out and said they’re 360-degree speakers, I checked out the stores for them.

There were two models — the Logitech Z523 and the Z323 are basically multimedia speakers made to pair with home PC or laptops. Only difference with this one is that the speakers are omnidirectional (there’s the usual one in the front and another one at the back).

Went to around 10 or more stores in MOA and Park Square 1 for these to no avail. Had to go and visit the Logitech Concept Store in Megamall to buy the Z523. The box has a pair of sleek speakers with a 6.5-inch down-firing sub-woofer.

Each of the satellite speakers are rated at 40 watts (rms) while the Z323 is only 30 watts. Since they have omnidirectional acoustics, you get almost the same volume when you place the speakers in the middle of the room. Audio quality is good to great at varying volume levels and the bass is pretty strong and solid. Have yet to use it more often to really get a good feel but so far my first impression is good.

The Logitech Speaker System Z323 is available at a suggested retail price of Php2,650 and the Logitech Speaker System Z523 is available at a suggested retail price of Php4,750 (I bought mine a little cheaper).

I’ll rather risk my 2,800 pesos for those 2.2 speaker systems made by Ozaki than this one. XD

The 40w RMS sounds inviting, and the price is reasonable. Downside is the design. They look cheap indeed, the kind sold in that much-queued shop. lol.

Surround sound? I saw these speakers last month but I was not able to confirm if these can emulate 5.1 surround.

Edifier is more deliciously looking than logitech or altec..

And what’s the point of asking about the difference between the two? Common.. this isn’t a picture blog.. read!

They look cheap Speakers to be honest, Logitech should have made the appearance better. I rather go to Altec Lansing at least Altec’s appearance is more acceptable.

When it comes to PC speakers, Creative and Altec Lansing were always my preferred makers because they’ve proven to be great in this business.

As for Logitech, mice and racing wheels are what always come to mind.
