Origami – the Microsoft Tablet PC?

At first glance, it looks like an huge iPod of sorts. Rumors abound that this is what Bill Gates has been saying to fight Apple’s iPod with. MS surely is into the media player business now.

Origami Project The Origami Project was discovered last week and it’s been making some buzz but I don’t think t’will compete directly against the iPod. This gadget is more than a video/music player.

First, it’s much muuch bigger (and I bet heavier) than a regular iPod video. Second, it’s feature-rich to be in the same price range as the iPod. Just check out this video here.

This portable device is an all-in-one: a personal handheld, media player, gaming system (can play Counter Strike), with internet capability (via WiFi), touch screen and additional connectivity using either bluetooth, GPRS or IR. Uses a seperate external keyboard but main input is done via stylus.

This Origami thing sure works like Palm’s LifeDrive.
