The XBox One review that never happened

A lot of readers were asking us for a couple of weeks now when we’ll publish our review of the XBox One we ordered from Microsoft in the US many months back. The package indeed arrived at our doorstep about 4 weeks ago.

We took our sweet time to do an unboxing session and by the time we plugged it in the wall socket, a plume of smoke started coming out of the adaptor.

That when we realized the XBox One (US version) only runs on 110V and not the auto-volt 110/220V we are always used to whenever we buy stuff from the US. Apparently, the US version is just 110V while the Europe version is 220V and the upcoming Asian version will be 110V/220V. Yeah, bummer.

So there, we have a brand new XBox One without a working adaptor. We’ve been scouting for a replacement for weeks now to no avail.

We’re contemplating on getting a 3rd-party adaptor (they say there’s probably one in Raon) or get a new one even if it’s 110V and just use a transformer.

Hence, the XBox One review will have to wait until then.

Majority of big appliances from the US are 110v (TV, console, kitchen stuff, amplifiers etc.) those that are smaller and usually brought around (cellphone charger, etc) have a chance to be auto volt.

For a techy, I was kinda surprised they didn’t check the adapter, coz usually that’s the first thing to check specially for big ticket items aside from the unit coming from the US.

Palibhasa walang article na makokopya na nagsabi na 110V lang yung US version, kaya ayan… crappy review as always… mangopya na nga lang kayo since dun naman kayo magaling,

Well imho baka sira na nga talaga ang adaptor kapag umusok or pumutok with char marks. kapag fuse kasi d ba auto trip lang, na walang usok or anything, it will not work lang.

Always check the adaptor next time if bought in the other country. Maagang ney year blast yan ha. Hehehehe

Baka kaya pang gawin to sir.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR! ^_^

      For your own good.

    • Avatar for Foxxy Foxxy says:

      Mr. Quick brown Fox

Ibig sabihin niya sir. mapagana ulit ang nasirang adapter. Intindihin mo kasi muna bago magokray

    • Avatar for quick brown fox quick brown fox says:

OK, mukhang humina reading comprehension ko nung time na yun. Soweh.

    • Avatar for tao tao says:

      *facepalm* -_-

I guess, then, that YugaTech is too much of a consumer electronics website, much to the point that the admins/writers don’t even bother to read specifications before trying out the products.

Too much plug and play right there.
