CinemaTube: 1080p HD Media Player

The CinemaTube is yet another networkable HD media player. I got a review unit ahead of launch date from a local distributor. Check out some photos and specs after the jump.

This 3-in-1 multimedia device can play HD videos, stream content over the network and also serves as a torrent downloader.

  • Supports full HD 1080p (1920×1080) resolution
  • Play media files off external USB storage devices (in the ff. formats: NTFS, EXT-3, FAT and HFS+)
  • Supports ISO files so you can play DVDs thru it
  • 1 HDMI, 2 USB ports and 1 LAN port
  • DTS + Dolby Digital Ready

The option for wireless can be had with a compatible WiFi dongle from brite-View. The CinemaTube only uses 10 watts of electricity when downloading torrents (up to 3 simultaneous torrent downloads).

UPnP Streaming allows you to connect to other PCs in the network and stream from Windows Media Library.

The CinemaTube is very similar to the Western Digital TV Media Player since they both don’t have external storage. You will need to hook it up to an external HDD or Flash Drive via USB. It will retail for about Php6,000 when it becomes available near the end of the month.

    @calvin thanks..

the usb ports seems to be right. Most players have them at the back.. siguro aesthetic or for better cable management..

Does this support the Matroska (MKV) container format?

vance, popcorn trumps the other two. layo ng price difference nila. although this is better than wdtv and wdtv mini because this can be connected to a router for streaming and bittorrent support.

wdtv live might be better than this just because of its huge support community. masmahal lang nga ng P500 siguro

cinematube is a nice entry player for dmp’s.

abe, found anything that can be improved on this one? UI maybe? how about firmware support?

i notice that there’s the poor placement of the usb ports unless you place this unit somewhere accessible.

    wala bang HDMI output to?

  19. Avatar for berkano berkano says:

Yuga, a very important feature is that it also downmixes Dolby Digital and DTS audio to stereo for those without AV receivers. Seems it doesn’t bitstream HD audio though.

I wonder how it fares if it goes head to head with th Xtreamer , HDPro, and WD TV Live.
