Epson’s Ultra HD 21-Projector Array

We visited the Epson Innovation Center in Hirooka, Nagano yesterday and among the dozens and dozens of custom and printers shown to us was this 21-projector array.

The set is composed of 21 separate pieces of projectors stacked at 7 x 3 at the rear of the stage which projects a single ultra-HD image to the screen.

The resulting image is 500 inches across, 20 meters wide and 4.3 meters tall with a resolution of 5632×1920 pixels or about 10-megapixels. The resulting projection is clear and crisp and sometimes gives you an impression of depth and perspective.
