In January 1 of this year, we predicted that Cebu Pacific will offer WiFi internet service in their flights. Well, it looks like our prediction came true with Cebu Pacific announcing a partnership with OnAir to offer in-flight WiFi service.
This make Cebu Pacific the first in the country (and probably one of the first few airlines in region as well) to have internet service during flights.
Once Internet OnAir is in service, Cebu Pacific passengers will be able to access the Internetduring flights and make calls using Voice Over IP applications, using their Wi-Fi enabled personal electronic devices, such as Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, and laptops. Cebu Pacific’s A330 fleet is scheduled to have Wi-Fi installed mid-next year, in time for the airline’s initial deployment of long haul services.
CEB’s A330 fleet, planned for introduction in the third quarter of 2013, will allow Cebu Pacific to provide direct, non-stop flights to regions within the aircraft’s 11-hour flying range including the Middle East, Australia, parts of Europe and the U.S.
The service will be provided by OnAir and they’ve actually launched several others earlier this year, including Hong Kong Airlines (last March), Singapore Airlines (2nd half of 2012) and Thai Airways (late 2012).
Cebu Pacific will be operating four(4) Airbus A330 starting next year. No prices for internet service were indicated but based on other OnAir services with other airlines, plans will start at $7.5 for mobile phones and $15 for laptops (not sure how many MB or GB bandwidth allocation for the plan).

Brilliant! Additional panghatak sa mga potential customers, and additional charges sa passenger :)
for long distance flights lang to right?
hmm yung padfone kaya na may tablet at dock ano ang classifications nila? mobile phone or laptop? hahahahah
So just on the A330? And all flights kaya or just international ones? I can’t imagine why I’d seriously need an internet connection for the 1-2 hours it takes to fly anywhere within the country though.
In fairness. Wifi brought to you by a budget carrier.
Guys, budget carrier ang Cebu Pacific. Don’t expect everything to be offered for FREE. If you want something “free”, expect higher ticket prices from CebuPac.
Pero kung may bayad ito, dapat mabilis ang internet, as in super bilis para sulit ang bayad.
oi wifi.
teka cebu pac?
may bayad.
fo sho. :))
luwagan muna nila seats nila bago wifi..parang bus nalang ang laki..
At last !!
Pa explain po, if inflight wifi is allowed, pwede rin pala gumamit ng phone inflight?
Tsaka how do the ISP can provide the internet when your flying in the middle of nowhere. (not based currently in any country)
Thanks!

satellite internet bro. the same used in my ship
but i doubt if they offer it for free. they’ll hide the charge in every ticket purchased..damn! they cant even give a cracker or a soda for free
yeh you can tweet if something somehow bad things happen while in flight :)
This should be offered for free especially when their flights are delayed or over booked to calm the nerves of angry passengers.
About time!
+1 on this
nahuhuli lagi tayo pagdating sa inflight services
i still cannot understand why our local airlines are so strict on using mobile phones before they close the main cabin door and right after landing. other international airlines even announce it in their welcome and arrival messages that guests may use them. they don’t even allow flight mode!!! Myth busters on Discovery channel busted the myth that mobile phones can disturb signals… oh well….
And to think that buses from Laguna and Batanagas offer wifi for free…
