Smart WiFi launched

smart wifiLaunched just yesterday, Smart WiFi is a new broadband internet service which allows users to get connected wirelessly thru Smart’s cell sites. The only thing you need is an outdoor antenna to serve as transceiver on any of Smart’s hundreds of cell sites nationwide.

Maximum bandwidth is up to around 128kbps and promo price starts at Php788/month. It’s an easy and affordable alternative if you don’t have phone lines in the neighborhood. This is gonna be a big hit once they find a way to bring access down to handhelds and portable devices (read: Tungsten T5 & Life Drive).

Please explain Mr. Cable WHY a week or two I got results from your CREATION that my speed is 300Kbps +++. WHILE in other 4 speed meters, results range from 85 to 110Kbps… EVEN lower!!!…. And my browsing was as low as DIAL up speed!!! IS THAT 300+++Kbps?????? iS THIS THE KIND OF TRUTH YOU SAY TO THE PEOPLE????
    …..

    It is clear now….

I just want to put this on record that a week or two, I’ve been testing my connection speed using at least 5 speed meters and one of them is www.testmy.net. The other 4 speed meters yielded results ranging from 85 to 110Kbps WHILE www.testmy.net yielded 300 Kbps UP on several tries!!! This is in contrast with what the ALLEGED creator of www.testmy.net said and I quote him….

Paano mo pa ma co-compress eh todo compress nanga? Nyaks! Wala lang! Opinyon lang…

I’d have to say wired is the way to go if you want stable and faster connections. Wireless would be an advantage if you have devices you carry around all the time (laptops, wifi enabled pdas) and that would also elimate the need for cables. The thing is the farther you are from the access point, the weaker the signal gets. I have experienced disconnections too when using a wireless router. Anyways, a wireless router usually has 4 wired ports as well so you should go with that and decide later on if you’d like to use cables or not. The wifi there is an added option. Good brands (for me) are Belkin and Linksys (though there have been some problems with certain batches of the WRT54g wireless router, go for the compact one). Goodluck!

Just who do you think you are accusing people of shit like that? You should be ashamed of yourself whoever you are. Just because someone states a different opinion doesn’t mean that he works for someone. Bago ka lang dito, wag kang masyadong mayabang! Go ask Pinnochio and the others, i’ve been commenting here on this blog since September and you’ve just shown up now to tick me off. Don’t be a wise ass dude, if you have nothing better to do than to accuse me then take your shit elsewhere. Be sure you have proof to back up your accusations or else just shut up.

“Why do you get different results on testmy.net that some other speedtests? Because I use highly compressed data in my method, …”

PA HIGHLY HIGHLY COMPRESSED DATA KA PA DYAN HA!!! ULOL!

THIiS iis the same logic used by www.testmy.net a week or 2 AGO. During which time I tested my SPEED with testmy.net at a whopping speed of 300Kbps WHILE in 4 other speed testers,… output range from 85 to 110Kbps.

HOWEVER, some riggers compute it this way…. The ORIGINAL SIZE divided by the time of download…. OR in the case of our compressed example here… 256,000 bits/0.5 second OR 512,000 bits per second(512Kbps) WHICH makes a subscriber think that he has a bandwidth of 512 Kbps when in TRUTH and in FACT it is ONLY 256Kbps.

IF THE TEST DATA IS COMPRESSED BEFORE ITS DOWNLOAD, THEN that 256,000 bits(equal to 32,000 bytes) would perhaps be equal to 128,000 bits(equal to 16,000 bytes) if the compression process yields 50% of the ORIGINAL DATA.
A compressed data is always smaller in size compared to its original form, The percentage of compression just varies depending on the type of the original data.
This compressed data with size 128,000 bits which was originally 256,000 bits would then be downloaded at half the time assuming you STILL use the same line(i.e. in 0.5 second), IF THE TESTER IS NOT RIGGED, THEN IT SHOULD YIELD THE RESULT OF THE COMPUTATION 128,000 BITS/0.5 SECOND OR 256,000 bits per second (256Kbps) STILL ….STILL…STILL…. STILL….
