Yahoo! is shutting down MyBlogLog

Yahoo! has yet again announced the shutting down of one of their services — this time around, it’s MyBlogLog. Yahoo! sent emails to all those who were using MyBlogLog last night.

Dear MyBlogLog Customer,

You have been identified as a customer of Yahoo! MyBlogLog. We will officially discontinue Yahoo! MyBlogLog effective May 24, 2011. Your agreement with Yahoo!, to the extent that it applies to the Yahoo! MyBlogLog, will terminate on May 24, 2011.

After May 24, 2011 your credit card will no longer be charged for premium services on MyBlogLog. We will refund you the unused portion of your subscription, if any. The refund will appear as a credit via the billing method we have on file for you. To make sure that your billing information is correct and up to date, visit https://billing.yahoo.com.

If you have questions about these changes, please visit the Yahoo! MyBlogLog help pages.

We thank you for being a customer on Yahoo! MyBlogLog.

Sincerely,
The Yahoo! My BlogLog Team

Been using MyBlogLog for years now, even before Yahoo! bought it for $10 million in early 2007. We’ve had over 2,000 members on MyBlogLog so I’m not sure what will happen after May 24 when the service is totally shut down.

It’s the second time they sent that. The first time was a year or two ago? I ended up ignoring their latest email announcement thinking “someone’s messing with them again”.

Wait-and-see mode, if their email announcement is for real.

Tama, everytime I log out from my Yahoo! Mail (don’t laugh but it’s the longest email service that I’ve been using though Gmail is undeniably clever – so I have both), I love the news updates which Google doesn’t have. Kahit pa sabihin natin na hindi ganun ka swift and smooth ang mga products nila, may share parin talaga of fanatics sila dito sa Asia.

While it may not affect as much people, yung mga Bloggers like Yugatech who have lots of following sa service na to would be a bit bothered. First Flickr, then Delicious, then MyBlogLog, baka sa susunod Yahoo! Mail na, wala kasing matatag na management organization ang Yahoo! Pero love ko parin sila kahit papaano ;-)
