Yahoo! Philippines gets a new GM

Listen to article

Yahoo! officially announced this week that they have a new General Manager for the Philippines in the name of Jack Madrid, replacing former GM Jojo Anonuevo.

Jack Madrid used to be Managing Director of Ayala Corporation, then MD of MTV Asia before becoming Director for Dell’s Consumer Technical Support.

Madrid replaces former Yahoo! Philippines’s General Manager Jojo Anonuevo, who has taken a regional role within Yahoo!’s Emerging Markets business group.

Pretty solid career record for the new GM although a friend pointed out some chatter over at Pinoy Exchange about Dell Pasay being sold to Teleperformance which mentioned him (hope those allegations aren’t true).

What a relief to locate a blog post that’s finally really worth reading through! I’ve been seeking about about this topic yet folks just set trash posts, or small unreadable posts. I have viewed a couple vids on youtube but it is now the same as reading through a good article. Great job! Sorry for my crooked english.

Sorry to say, per industry news and insiders, Jack’s last stints in Ayala Corp and MTV “flunked” badly which actually led to closure to those units he managed. MTV Phils is run now by another entity. In Dell, he was a Director indeed but not really a contributor to the company — and yes, Dell was sold to Teleperformance. Of course, I doubt if Jack alone was the sole reason pero parang may balat ata yung mama. Lahat na lang pinuntahan sumasara.

Hope Yahoo doesn’t suffer the same fate.

Yes it’s not like Jack Madrid will engineer the inevitable fall of Yahoo! in 5 years. Who cares.
