Pineng High-Density Power Banks Hands-on

With how much we interact with our phones on a daily basis,  power banks are a necessity in our every day carries. Pineng has sent us a bunch of power banks to try out. Most of their products are priced below PHP 1,000, built with hard plastic with no flex and a carbon fiber pattern looking finish. They offer a lot of products that come in different capacities, outputs, and sizes. To help you choose which power bank to get, we’ve made a quick rundown for you to get a better idea of what the differences are between the SKUs.

Pineng PN 969

The Pineng 969 is a 20,000mAh power bank that comes in white or black and red color. Located at the front is a screen that accurately displays the remaining charge of the power bank.

At the top, there are two USB outputs, capable of charging two devices at the same time. There’s also a MicroUSB port to charge the device.

Situated at the side is the power button to turn the device on.

Pineng PN 936 & PN 939

The Pineng PN 936 (white) and PN 939 (black) have 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh capacities respectively and taper towards the top where the ports are located. At the front, you get 4 LED lights that tell the remaining battery of the power bank, as well as the power button.

On top, there are two USB ports that are capable of simultaneously charging two devices, as well as two input ports, one MicroUSB and one USB Type-C.

On the side, there’s a 5V, 2A lightning cable input.

Pineng PN 985 & PN 986

The Pineng PN 985 (black) and PN 986 (white) have a battery capacity of 10,000mAh. These two are the smallest of their product stack.

On top, there’s one input MicroUSB, one USB Type-C PD enabled charge and discharge output, and two USB outputs. The main difference is that the PN 985 has regular USB outputs, while the PN 986 is equipped with two Quick Charge USB outputs.

On the side, there’s a power switch to turn the power bank on from sleep.

Pineng PN 957

The Pineng PN 957 is a 10,000mAh power bank that has four built-in wires to charge most mobile devices. Though the wires are short, it still adds a lot of convenience and portability since you don’t have to bring your own. Unfortunately, this does add a layer of vulnerability since it’s impossible to replace these wires. Located at the front is a power switch to turn the power bank on from sleep.

Located at the top are two inputs: one MicroUSB and one USB Type-C. There are also four LED lights that tell you how much charge the power bank is still holding in its charge.

Located at the back and at the sides are the four built-in output cables: one USB, one MicroUSB, one USB Type-C, and one Lightning connector.

Pineng PN 956 & PN 959

The Pineng PN 956 (black) and PN 959 (white) have a 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh capacity respectively. They also have two built-in wires on both sides. The PN 959 has a power button at the front, while the PN 956 does not.

At the front of the PN 956, you can find the power button, one USB output, and a MicroUSB input. On the PN 959, you have two inputs; one USB Type-C and one MicroUSB, and a USB output.

On the sides, you have two built-in charging cables; a lightning cable on the left, and a USB Type-C/MicroUSB combo on the right.

Pineng PN 981 & PN 982

The Pineng PN 981 (white) and PN 982 (black & red) have 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh capacities respectively. They both have digital screens on the front to display the power bank’s current charge but are limited to displaying 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% charge only.

In front, there are two USB outputs and one MicroUSB input for charging.

On the side, you can find the power button.

Pineng PN 888

The Pineng PN 888 is a 10,000mAh power bank with a screen that displays the battery level, and Qi wireless charging in front.

On the right, there’s a built-in, removable USB to MicroUSB cable.

At the top, you can find a MicroUSB input and a Quick Charge 3.0 enabled USB output.

At the bottom, Pineng added a MicroUSB to USB Type-C adapter.

Pineng PN 961 & PN 962

Lastly, the highest-end models: the Pineng PN 961 (white) and PN 962 (black) have a 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh battery capacities respectively. At the front, they have a screen that accurately displays the amount of charge the power bank still carries, input and output voltage and ampere, as well as whether Qualcomm’s quick charge is enabled.

On top of the PN 961, there’s one Quick Charge 3.0 enabled USB output, one USB output, one USB Type-C input, and one MicroUSB input. As for the PN 962, there’s one Quick Charge 3.0 enabled USB output, two USB outputs, one USB Type-C input, and one MicroUSB input.

On the left, you can find a lightning connector for charging the power bank.

Situated on the right is the power switch for the power bank.
