Dennis Altura asks, “Which is better: Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime or Huawei GR5 2017?

This battle is between two mid-range smartphones with almost identical key specifications. Let’s take a look at which one will win in this match.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime was released last year. It has a 5.5” Full HD TFT LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a Samsung Exynos 7870 CPU, a Mali T830 GPU, a 13MP rear autofocus camera with LED flash, an 8MP wide-angle front camera, and a 3,300mAh battery to power up the device.

The Huawei GR5 2017 is among the community’s favorite alongside fthe Redmi Note 4X. It has a 5.5 Full HD IPS LCD display with a 1920 x1080 resolution, a Kirin 655 CPU, a Mali T830 GPU, a 12MP + 2MP Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) dual rear camera with LED flash, an 8MP wide-angle front camera, and a 3,340mAh battery to power up the device.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

+ Higher rear camera single lens resolution

Huawei GR5 2017

+ Better performing CPU

+ Slightly larger battery

+ Dual rear camera

As for their benchmarks, the Antutu score for the J7 Prime is 46,287 while the GR5 2017 is at 57,945. Their battery life scores are as follows: J7 Prime lasted for 9 Hours and 38 Minutes while the GR5 2017 lasted for 9 Hours and 26 Minutes.

From specs alone, the smartphones only have a major difference in CPU, other than that, there are minor gaps between them. However, that major difference made the impact on which smartphone has the upper hand in this match.

In overall specs, the GR5 2017 wins since its Kirin 655 CPU performs better than the Exynos 7870 of the J7 Prime. In addition to that, as we can see on their benchmark scores, there is a significant difference in their performances even though they have the same GPU which is the Mali T830.

As for the camera quality, we will leave it to your eyes to see which one has the better camera quality. Both smartphones have a wide-angle front camera and on top of that, they also have the same front camera resolution. Here is a video comparison of the J7 Prime and OPPO F1s.
