LG Optimus 3D Cube and 3D Max announced

LG Mobile has announced two new 3D smartphones a couple of days ahead of the Mobile World Congress — the LG Optimus 3D Cube and the LG Optimus 3D Max, the successor to the first Optimus 3D from last year.

The new Optimus 3D Cube and 3D Max are much thinner now at 9.6mm compared to the first one which is a bit thicker at 11.9mm. The new handsets will also both have NFC support

LG Optimus 3D Cube SU870 specs:
4.3″ 3D IPS LCD @ 480×800 pixels
Nova Display
TI OMAP 4430 1.2GHz dual-core
PowerVR SGX540
16GB internal storage
1GB RAM
HSPA+ 21Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA
GPS w/ aGPS support
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ EDR
NFC
2 x 5MP autofocus camera
1080p video (2D and 3D)
1520mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 2.3 Gingerbread

What’s actually odd is that the Optimus 3D Max is just similar to the Optimus 3D Cube, except for a more basic LCD and smaller internal storage.

LG Optimus 3D Max specs:
4.3″ 3D LCD @ 480×800 pixels
TI OMAP 4430 1.2GHz dual-core
PowerVR SGX540
8GB internal storage
1GB RAM
HSPA+ 21Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA
GPS w/ aGPS support
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ EDR
NFC
2 x 5MP autofocus camera
1080p video (2D and 3D)
1520mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 2.3 Gingerbread

It’s most like that this new 3D duo will split the category in the price point. Remember that LG’s Nova display will be much brighter than the conventional LCD.

Both 3d smartphones will be ready for Android ICS once the updates become available. Expect them to be released in the market starting March 2012.

upgraded my Optimus 3D at lg sm megamall to gingerbread. the restarting problem while the wifi is on has vanished but the sim signal would at times be lost and i have to restart my fone to get back the signal but after a factory reset the problem have diminished though not gone completely.

dami pang alam na 8MP, 8MP is the norm! mag produce ka ng sarili mong Smartphone na andun lahat ng gus2 mo! kaka-highblood!

  7. Avatar for ronald ronald says:

no thanks. lg is so slow in updates and has this problem of restarting when wifi is left on and 5 megapixels is just stupid. 8 megapixels is the norm.

The older Samsung models like the Samsung Galaxy Ace have the same wi-fi problem but seems to be resolved with the latest handsets, even the Samsung Galaxy Y. Who knows, LG might have resolved that problem as well with these new models.

Now for the camera though, everyone has their own needs. Ang problema kasi, parang ang hirap mag-release ng new handsets with 8 MP camera without the price reaching more than 30k mark, and at that price point, marami nang kakompetensya ang LG.

Kung marami kang pera at gusto mo ng phone with 8 MP camera then fine. This phone is not for you.

thanks for the info. I’m just so frustrated with my lg optimus 3d because when I updated it OTA last october the “restarting problem when the wifi is on” started. I’m planning to go to a lg service center to upgrade it from froyo to gingerbread. Do you think it will solve the problem?

    • Avatar for Soul Annihilator Soul Annihilator says:

I’m not sure if upgrading solves the problem, but my sister who owns a Galaxy Ace has found out a nice workaround. Just download Easy Battery Saver from Android market and put it in “Intelligent Mode” so it turns off wifi automatically when your phone sleeps.

buti na lang hindi ko nabili ang optimus 3d, ill now go with optimus 3d cube, sana lang under 30k ang pricing.

Only 5MP next phone pls, or better yet Iphone 5 this October, so save up now, price will be $600-700

    • Avatar for garz garz says:

You’re stupid to judge a phone by its megapixels. You should know that by now. Look at the specs! It’s got a TI OMAP and a PowerVR.
